I think our embryos have found a HOME!!!

Throught much talking with the surrogacy ageny and the egg donor agency and the RE we have found a couple to adopt our embryos. I am so GLAD!! They have had a long journey like us and are so deserving and I know they'll be a great Mom and Dad. We are taking it slow since this is "new waters" for us. It is a great feeling not to have those embryos in limbo.

That's wonderful news. And you can feel good for the rest of your lives knowing you helped another family achieve their dream.

You know, before we had all of these issues and had to use donor sperm, I would have never ever thought I would have been brave enough to allow someone else the opportunity to raise "my child." But having to use DE or DS (or both!) really humbles you. I know totally understand that family is NOT about DNA and without the kind gentlemen who donate sperm, DH and I would never even have a chance to have children. We are still trying for #1 (in 2ww for 4th IUI), but I know that we have talked a lot about how we can give back after we have a child. I would love to do egg donation, but my mother is a breast cancer survivor, so I don't know if I would be a candidate. We also have more recently talked about surrogacy. I guess if we are pushed to IVF we will have to make a decision about what to do with extra embryos.

BC-MAV - I applaud you! Yay for everyone who realizes that it is not DNA that makes a family!

I am kind of glad that our 2nd child does not have my DNA.... there are many things he will avoid because of us using ED! And there are a few things that are really amazing that our ED has passed on. Yes, I can tell. He has beautiful eyebrows and nice thin hair like her. He is outgoing like her. And DS is supersmart as our ED is gifted in IQ. And I do love the things about our 1st DS such as his calm, laid back demeaner... probably from me. And he loves to build things... from DH. And he is fair and skinny like DH was as a child. And 1st DS is very smart too... that comes from me-LOL! They are both unique.

MAV,

So glad you found someone you wanted to donate your embryos to. It is nice to end your journey with being able to help someone else.

BC-MAV~ Congratulations on finding a wonderful couple! That must be such a relief to you and DH. I could use some advice from you regarding donating embryo's...

DH and I have been on a very long IF journey. In May I had an IVF transfer using DE. Unfortunately it resulted in a BFN. I am scheduled for a FET in 3 weeks using 2 embryos. (I have 8 left.) My DH and I have decided this will be the end of our fertility journey regardless of the outcome. We both feel that we need to just make peace with my IF and move on with our lives. How did you go about finding a couple to donate your embryo's to? Did you need to have any type of psychological screening? Did you need to arrange to transfer them to a facility? Did you pick the couple or did they pick you? I know I am asking a lot of questions but I have no idea where to start. I decided to start looking into this BEFORE my FET because I know I may not be in the right state of mind for a while after the results...

Thanks for your help.
