Question to Egg Donors

First off, I am not in anyway wanting to offend anyone, just trying to clear up things in my head. We have been on an ED waiting list for a year now and it is still hard to deal with the fact that this is my only option due to high FSH.

Just wanted to ask the donors what is your reasoning for donating? The only info you ever hear is the bad info dealing with cloning and such. But, when it comes to egg donation dealing with infertility, what makes a donor put themselves thru all of what you go thru to donate?

Again, I hope that by asking this I am not offending anyone or implying anything. Just struggling with many things after being dealt the infertile card, and wanting to make an informed decision on what our next step will be.

Thanks a TON!!

I am an Egg Donor and would be happy to tell you why I became one.

I have IF issues and had to go through IVF to get my little ones. During my TTC journey I met a lady that had to use DE to get pregnant. I wasn't familiar with this process.

After completing my first IVF and having it work, I thought to myself if it worked for me maybe it could work for someone else. Just maybe I can help someone experience pregnancy and the joys of completing a family.

With what I learned from the lady I had met that used DE and from my own experience with TTC and having obstacles thrown in my way I started the process to become a donor.

Every needle stick, every ounce of weight gain, ect is so worth it to me to know that I am helping make another ladies dreams come true

ETA: I am also now in the process of becoming a surrogant

All I can say is thank you very much for responding to my question, and thank you very much for what you are doing. I was very fearful that I might offend someone by asking, but my husband still has many questions. I wanted to be able to answer his questions with answers direct from donors.

Thanks again!!!!

((HUG)) I understand

I was driving 1 1/2 hours one way to the RE's office for a 5 minute visit for blood draws. Then there was days I was there for maybe 1/2hour when they did the blood draw and u/s.
I hate driving long distances but it was so worth it to know I was helping someone complete there dreams.

I have recently signed up to become an egg donor and would also be happy to tell you why.

I know many people who have not been able to have children on their own. My brother and his wife are ttc and are moving on to IVF next month. Three of my friends are PG now thanks to fertility treatments, and four of the women with whom I work have had children only with reproductive assistance. After talking with all of them, I realized that I can help others like them by donating my eggs.

My brief moments of discomfort seem trivial when you think about how much I can help others with their dreams of having children. I would like to think that there would be some one out there who would do the same thing for me if the roles were reversed.
