Question on timeline, from someone new to DE

I'm afraid to ask this, because I've fully participated in a snarky thread about dumb newbie questions on another board. Ha ha. I'm sure this has been asked before, but does anyone have an approximate time estimate from when ED and I start BCPs to the ER?

My DE coordinator said we are both to call her in May on CD1, and she said the ER would be in July! Does that sound right? I suppose, once I factor in synching cycles, Lupron, stims, it sounds reasonable. It will probably be early July though, wouldn't you think?

Does anyone have answers for this DE freshman?
Thanks!

Jennifer

Hey Tree,

It seems like all REs have their own little protocols. With my RE we start BCPs generally about 6-7 weeks before the ER. So if you start your period and BCPs mid to late May, then an early July ER/ET sounds right. Did they say when in July things will be happening?

Good luck!

Is there a shutdown factored in there????

It depends on who is where in the cycle. Ideally they want you 1-2 weeks ahead(and on estrogen) of the donor. And if she doesn't start until end of May, then yeah, I can see it being July before ER.

But they'll work it out. Usually I'd take a whole pack or almost. This last cycle we both took less(and I didn't get AF, I took like 12 pills, I think). For DE#1 I had to double over and take 5 weeks of pills to get through Christmas AND to sync up.

So you starting is less important than when she starts, but somehow they'll work it out that you take between 2 weeks and 6 weeks of pills to get synched up.

Thanks so much, everyone, for your input. I've been playing phone tag with my DE coordinator, but I may know more this afternoon. I called her to let her know I'm on CD1 (so we can better estimate when May AF will be), and she left me a very upbeat message on my voice-mail, saying everything's falling into place and she's very excited for me. I'll post an update when I hear back.

Thanks again!

And hi, Kat! How are you???

**update**

I really love my DE coordinator. She's already talked to the ED and gave me some estimated timelines!!! Suddenly, I feel nervous. But in a really good way. I guess ED will be starting AF this week too. Estimated ER/ET will be the first week in July!!!!

Thanks for reading my play-by-play.

Jennifer -
I'm so excited for you! It's been so long and now the moment is finally here! I will follow your progress with lots of hope.

I'm doing just fine, thanks. 22.5 weeks along; I'm getting biger and a bit uncomfortable but it's not a big deal. WHat matters most is that both babies (a boy and a girl ) are growing fine and have passed their nuchal and 20-week anatomy scans. My beau & I are hustling now to get ready for their arrival - in a couple of weeks I have to complete a major qualifying exam for my doctorate, and we have to make sure the renovations to our house are done in June so we can move back in before the babies are due in late July!

Keep us posted on your cycle so we can all cheer you on!

Kat
