Egg Donor recipient - cost??
I am soooooo new to all of this and right now I am just at the start of my research on donor eggs....but I have one main ? that I can't seem to get any answers on:1. How much is it really to get donor eggs???? Ballpark figure? Is it less expensive or more expensive than adoption?? I would love to hear someone's personal story on what they actually paid out of pocket...... thanks, ~~~ Sailboat ~~~~~

$20,000
Honestly, I can't even remember the breakdown right now. $5,000 to the egg donor I'll have to come back when I remember! Bottom Line... it was worth it. I have 3 children from 1 egg donor cycle.

Wow...
That is amazing. That seems awesome. I assume your egg donor had a lot of eggs and a lot of embryo's were made....wow, I didn't even think of that angle with it....that you would get a lot (or hopefully get a lot) and then have some to freeze. Wow. Thanks for the insight.

I would think egg donor would be less expensive than adoption and you are surely gonna get more than 1 embryo/1baby. Compensation to egg donor $5,000 to $8,000 depending on experience and if donations have resulted in pregnancies and babies for women. Then you have to pay for the meds and IVF for the egg donnor... umm.... $15,000? I think it's still less expensive to do egg donor. A private adoption could cost $40,000.

Sailboat,
I'm paying completely out of pocket, and with meds and all the fees from Donor agency and RE procedures it's now in the $30000.00 ball park. Our donor is getting $5000.00. Flicka7, that's awesome, you must have had a great cycle. Hope this helps, San |

My cycle costs sound a little different than you all.
When we first began the IVF process we paid for a "four try" package...$13,000...then we had to pay for all the meds as well...this cost also included unlimited FET's. When we decided to move onto DE, we still have several tries left, so now we just had to pay donor ($3,000) and then for her testing and meds (about another $3,000) Hope this helps... -Wendy |

They retrieved 28 eggs, 21 were mature and only 14 fertilized. We put in 2 fresh and got a BFN. Only 5 went to blast and were frozen. Transferred 2 and had my son. Thawed 3, only 2 survived and had twins.
So, the numbers dwindle down quickly when you get a lot of eggs. Sometimes, only getting a few works out just as well!

Flicka7 - wow, that's a wonderfull success story. If I could ask, how long did you wait after your son, to go for it again?
Sailboat, I think you'll find that the costs vary a bit. Good luck with your process. san |

I breastfed him for 6 months, then waited about 6 weeks for AF, had one more cycle, then went on BCP's. It was 10 months between pregnancies. My twins were 7 1/2 weeks early, so my son was only 16 1/2 months old when they were born. It's been interesting!!!
