Question Embryo adoptions policies??

What are the requirements for embryo adoption at your clinic? Do you have to go through home studies, etc. like you have to for adoption of a baby or toddler?

Thanks!

Dana

i think it depends on how you get them.

Through the RE, no, no homestudy. Through a private agency, then maybe. I know Snowflake makes you do homestudy and all, but I've seen others that do not.

Thanks Emily!

I emailed a Canadian clinic and am waiting to hear what they say. Canadian law prohibits us from paying anything other than medical/travel expenses to a donor, but maybe I could have the FET done in the States?

I'm not considering this yet, just researching.

After this cycle, depending on things, it's an option we might consider. Dembie, DE/DS or infant adoption are all still things we can think about still.

So I dabbled a little in looking into it.

Happy researching.

Hi, I thought I'd chime in. We did donor embryo with our RE. They made us meet with a professional counselor before we could be a recipient. In my opinion, that is how they handled the "home study" concept... they need to protect themselves from lawsuits or something. Our RE does unidentified donor embryos -- we don't know names, but do get a profile with medical history, etc.

Hope this is helpful.
