Good Sperm Banks
Hi,
Ladies I am looking for some info. on good sperm banks. We are hoping to start donor IUI's in a few months once I am healed from an adominol mymectomy. I used donor several years back but I am not sure I want to use the same sperm bank. I want a bank with good track records, good specimens, and good customer service. We do not want to spend an arm and a leg but I want good stuff. I have been playing this game for too long and I have gone through to much with failed IUI's and now surgery to not have the best. Please post info. on good sperm banks. I can't try right now but I can explore my options. Thanks, Chriss

Hi Chris, We used Fairfax Cryobank-there are a range of prices and you can see on their website depending on the education level, etc. So far, we've been pleased w/ them but have only ordered 1 vial for IVF and now onto DSIUI, so we need to order more form the same donor.Only 3% of those who try to give sperm at Fairfax actually make it through the rigourous testing process. Fairfax also tests for HPV and I don't believe any other sperm banks do so.
Hope this helps! |

Hey Chriss!
I am using California Cryobank. So far I have been really happy with them, but i'm only starting my first DIUI this month...I hear they are quick in customer service if there is ever a problem (with post thaw #'s, etc..) from others who have used them. I bought 12 vials from them though so I'm really "banking" on them, lol. They have a great website, that really made it easy to search through donor information. It is kind of pricey though, but sometimes you get what you pay for. You can visit their website, and they have their own forum, so maybe you could join and talk to some other people that have used them? I'm fairly new to all this myself, so I've been over there on that board to get information... Fairfax is also good, it was a toss up between California Cryo and Fairfax till I finally settled on CCB. Good luck!

Disagree about CCB on customer service. I had to fight with them for over a month on refunds for 2 vials of sperm that had low counts. (Only got one refunded even both were under the counts posted on their internet.)
Then I was told that there was plenty of sperm left of my donor - Was told not to worry about it. Two days later he was sold out. (Knew I should have ignored my DH and just bought some when I had a chance!) Then I am trying to get the donor restarted. I am having a very hard time with getting them to return my calls. I have decided not to restart my donor and just use another donor. I would like to have a full sibling to my DD but the hassle I am going through is just not worth it. |

Elann,
Ugg, I'm sorry to hear about your experience with CCB. I hope I don't run into any problems with them... I've heard people say that they were good about refunds, but I don't have any personal experience with that. At least not yet... Its good to know both sides of every story, thanks for sharing that info. I HAVE heard that restarting a donor can be a nightmare though. Thats why I jumped the gun and bought so much to begin with. I don't want to take that chance that there might not be more cause I had my heart set on one donor, and 2 days later he was sold out and was no longer in the program, so I had to pick another... I don't know if other banks do financing, but I was able to get it through CareCredit immediatley and purchase enough to store for a while. Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to afford to get so much at one time. Best of luck with your new donor! Did you still use CCB or you going with another bank? I use NorthWest Andrology and Cryobank. Main reason is because you dont need a doctors signature to buy sperm vials. I am using a doctor, but before we went to the doctor we tried 2 times at home. This is the only sperm bank I have come across that will sell you vials without doctor permission. They ship the vials to your home also which I like better vs. shipping to doctor and it getting misplaces. The vials are only $200 each but shipping through DHL is a bit costly at $159. I have had great service each and everytime and we are going on our 8th purchase with them. Good luck with whatever you choose.

We used Midwest Sperm Bank. I chose them because they were 1/2 the price of the other banks! Everything worked out great! They qty in each vial was actually higher than they estimated it would be! The motility was really good too! When they unthawed my specimen the day of the IUI...my nurse said it was one of the best specimens she'd seen in awhile!
We got pg on our first DIUI...we were so lucky. I ordered 3 at a time...so now I have to remaining for when we are ready for round two! Good luck on your search. |

I use Midwest Spermbank. I love them. They only charge $200 per vial (washed) and it only costs me $50 for round trip shipping. And, they ship the next day! Plus, my Dr. tells me the counts are excellent. I am switching donors for this next try but am using another donor through Midwest that has proven pregnancies. I have had nothing but a good experience with them and Joanne is so helpful everytime I call. Good luck with your search!!!
