Blood Clots?

Has anyone ever cycled after having a blood clot?

On Thursday I was hospitalized with a DVT blood clot

I am now on Lovenox my Dr at least said he would wait on coumidin (sp) til I get a chance to talk to our RE. I am supposed to be cycling for a dear friend of mine. I feel like I have failed her cause of this stupid clot that I got as a result of leg surgery.

I am hoping this only delays us and doesnt keep us from cycling. I know IMs that have cycled after having issues. So has anyone cycled or known anyone who has cycled after having a blood clot?

Sanddollar - Sorry to hear about your clot. The most important thing at this point is your own health and you need to get your blood tests stabilised before you cycle.

The increased oestrogen levels during an IVF cycle can actually lead to blood clots in those who are already susceptible, so if you do go ahead in future your haematologist will need to advise your fertility clinic about your medication. I believe that Coumadin is not considered safe in pregnancy, but that may not be an issue if you are the donor.

Out of interest, have your doctors checked you for genetic clotting tendencies? I have a very common gene called Factor V Leiden carried by about 1 in 20 people of European descent that increases my risk of clotting.

Josie thanks for your information!

I had a complication from knee surgery There have never been any clotting disorders in my family so that is good to know. My Doc said it is really common in athletes. Great another thing that doing sports has done to my body!! LMAO! Since track was the reason I needed knee surgery I ran too much as a kid!
