Greetings from Australia
Hi there. I am new and just wanted to say hi. I am a 37 yr old Aussie Mum, living in my homeland. I was put onto this site by another Aussie alo going thru IVF like me. I am almost at the end of my first IVF cycle. I am on the injections and have my blood and scan this friday. Egg retrieval is next week sometime. Its all getting abit scary now. I have been coping quite well with the injections but I am getting the hot flushes a few times a day now and this can prove HOT - of course and embarrasing when you look like a lobster in the middle of winter.....
I have one son already! Ty was born (naturally) in 1997. I was diagnosed with PCOS earlier this year. I have always been irregular with my periods, but now I have a few of the pcos symptoms which is what alerted me when I went googling...... Aghhh the ways of the internet huh? Because I am single I will be using donor sperm. That costs $1200 (AUS) just for the sperm. In US Dollars its about two thirds that amount. A single woman can not use DS in the state of South Australia unless they have an infertility problem. Because I am new I am still learning all of the abbreviations... I looked forward to joining in with other forums and threads... Take care, Cheer's Glenice Mum to Tyson - 10 yrs old (March 1997)

Thankyou for the welcome Ladies. And Yes it is Winter here for one more month! I am a summer person, so I am looking forward to the warmer weather getting here... Im having one of those days where I am not feeling negative about my IVF. Just home from work and I am tired and wondering if I am doing ok with the injections (GONAL). Time will tell I guess as I've got my blood and scan in just under two days.... Thats the last time I go in until egg collection if all is well. Abit scared I may not have any eggs in there? Or with PCOS that I have been over stimulated and will have too many and my cycle will be cancelled... I guess we all go thru these feelings dont we. Hope ur all well. Cheers from DownUnder

Just stopping by to let you know I am waiting for the phone call after my blood test and scan this morning to confirm that my egg retrieval has been moved up two days to this Monday... That means the trigger injection tomorrow night I guess? Now I'm getting nervous..... Cheer's Glenice

Hi I had my first egg retrieval yesturday..... I woke to find that they had retrieved 11 eggs which is supposed to be a good amount... Today they rang me to say only 6 were mature enough to inject and of those 6 only 3 fertilized. I am due to have the embryo transfer done on saturday. Right now I am really dissapointed with the outcome from 11 eggs down to 3. I'm wondering why it has happened?.... Is it because I was on a very low dose (a quater of what most women here in Australia are on) to avoid OHSS or the sperm doesnt like my eggs? Is it because I have PCOS???? I'm feeling down right now but I am sure thats normal.... Now I'm worried come saturday that all 3 remaining blastocysts will have died....
I feel like I cant go thru with another IVF cycle if they dont make it... Sucks! Glenice |
