My egg donor recently had m/c <10weeks...

My egg donor just emailed me back and let me know that she recently had a m/c shy of 10 weeks. She told me her doctors said it won't effect her fertilty at all, but we don't know if it'll effect our potential DE cycle. We are hoping to have the ER/ET at the end of April. Do you think it'll get pushed back by much??? I am going to call the RE tomorrow, but was wondering if anyone has experience with this as a donor or IP. Thanks a bunch :-)

Hi there. I see Dr. Hardy and Dr. Hill in Reading. I am not using an agency, but my RE's donor coordinator called to say that they [refer the use of an agency. I really want this girl in particular and might have to fight for it to happen, but we'll see. I'll keep you posted :-)

shannon,

Your RE should interview and review her health and m/c before starting anything and give you his opinion. I had to let go of a few ED b/c they weren't healthy enough in my RE's opinion; however, none had had a m/c.

GL,

There is a mandatory screening process she will go through for physical and mental health. We can't move forward with her if there is an issue identifed during that screening. My RE is heavily involved in that process, so I am hoping it works out. I talked to the donor coordinator briefly today and she wanted my de to go through an agency, but that's another $3-4k and we are barely going to make the cost without agency fees being added. I called her back and said that this is the girl we want and I would do whatever I could to help with the process. making sure her screenings are done shouldn't be tough, as I have gone to her doctor in the past. If my RE gives me a hard time, I will go back to Brigham and Women's to cycle with her. That's where she has done her previous 2 donor cycles and where I did my first 3 IVFs.

Kylie has just replied to a thread you have subscribed to entitled - My egg
donor recently had m/c <10weeks... - in the Donor Issues (Egg & Sperm) forum of
Fertilethoughts.

Here is the message that has just been posted:
***************
Why on earth was this woman getting pregnant if she committed to doing a cycle
with you in April ? That doesn't show very much responsibility on her
part . I'd be looking for someone that you can trust to go through
the process and take it seriously.

Kylie, I understand (and appreciate) your concern, but I think I was too fuzy with the details. She is a woman I first spoke with last fall, then I told her we were going to try again with our own eggs. She was not expecting my recent contact and had pulled her add, etc. I just re-connected with her and asked if she would consider us now b/c we were ready to move on from IVF to Donor IVF. She replied that she would be happy to work with us, and gave me the details of what has happened in her life in the past 4 months since we last spoke.
I am relieved she was so up front and honest about everything and hope after all the screenings we get the green light to procede. The end of April is merely my own personal goal...I hope I get get everything in order so we can cycle then, but who knows I'll keep you posted!

I'm surprised your RE won't take a donor you found yourself. Don't they have a pool? Never heard of an RE not having one, but there is always a first time. If it's only a matter of coordinating and being an open donation, I don't see what the problem is as you point out. If it's a paperwork issue, it would be cheaper to have a lawyer involved. Most of those who specialize in family/donation etc law charge a flat fee for donations which is well under $1000 for everything.

Is there a reason you want that specific RE?

I hope it works out

That's a good point (a lawyer). I really think this coordinator just doesn't think she can/should manage the legal stuff on both ends and an agency dodr would be easier....but I really don't care if that's the case. I really like this RE better than my previous one and would prefer to stay with him, but only if I can cycle with this donor. I forgot my cell phone and have to wait until I get home to see if the donor coordinator got back to me today...ugh.
