How long was your wait?
Tomorrow is my 43rd birthday. Time is clicking by and we have been waiting what seems an eternity for an ED. I am curious how long most of you who got an ED waited. We are at 7 months now and not one word from either RE we have gone to. Should we move on or give up? Are we being ignored due to our age? I am obvisiously feeling my age....

Abilene...hang in there...you are not being ignored...we waited about 6 months. And that was a bit earlier than they had expected. They gave us a wait of about 6-12 months. I know it does seem like an eternity! Definitely has nothing to do with your age...most people waiting for ED are about your age. You can call the RE and ask where you are on the list...I'm sure they can tell you that! Good luck sweetie! It will be here before you know it!

DeeMarie:
I would call, but both places are very much don't call us we'll call you. Last time I called one I was told the wait was now even longer than the original 6 months the doctor told us- so I feel kind of lied to. It is always something- something I can not control. Nothing like feeling like you are waiting to buy a new car that has yet to be created. Thanks for the words of encouragement. Abilene |

I waited almost a year and a half for us to get to our first ET. However, my experience is by far atypical.
I would call the parties involved and ask them where you stand in the process right now and I would call them regularly; every 2 weeks would make me feel comfortable. I found that being proactive helps after we got the runaround by one agency; somehow they must be accountable. So if you're 4th in line today, when you call next time, you should be 4th or less not 6th or something. You should not be afraid to call; they are there to help you. Perhaps, call them and ask what's a good time to call usually so you don't get them at their usual busiest time. Work something out with them; tell them exactly how you feel. Be calm above all ![]() GL, CS |

I have heard that waits can be extremely long, however we were extraordinarily lucky. We did 2 de cycles. For the 1st one we waited only about 3 weeks for a match, and for the 2nd we waited 3 days (when I got my bfn for the 1st cycle and told me RE that we wanted to try again they already had someone in mind). Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
