advice

Hi everryone,

I am new to this thread, although not new to fertie thoughts.

After my last miscarriage it was determined that we had less then a 5 percent chance of conceiving with my eggs. This then led us to de.

I was hoping I could get some advice. Dh and I were given a great de profile. We like her history, pictures, etc... My only concern is that she has never donated before and never had kids. She is 25. Do you think it is to big of a risk to go with someone who has never donated before? Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Thank you in advance.

Beth

I do not think it is a big risk at all. Her age is perfect - the chance that something is wrong with her eggs at her age is slim. The only negative is that she doesn't know how she responds to stims.

If you like everything about her - go for it!

same dilemma

I'm sorry for your loss.

I am trying to choose between two donors. 21 year old first time donor with no kids or 31 1x donor with BFP and 2 of her own kids. Otherwise they are comparable... Right now we are leaning toward the younger donor with the hope that her eggs are likely to be better quality. I can't help but look longingly at the pics of donor 2's kids, though, and wonder if the odds are better with her. We probably can only afford one go at this so I want to make it count.

teach123,

No it's no worse than proven donors.

I've gone both route and this is number 7 we're using; none of the others made it to ER for various reason. Please note that this is atypical. However, I did get a pretty good picture of the process in many directions.

I had a couple of proven donors rejected by my RE b/c of poor response or embryology after he reviewed their previous donations. Frankly, he was surprised one had been used for more than 2 donations based on her results.

I also had one of my non proven donor rejected b/c she didn't pass the infectious disease blood test.

Put a clause in your contract that says that if she is rejected by your RE that you get rematched for free by the agency if you are using one. If you are using the RE's pool, that shouldn't be a problem. However, you will still have to pay for the tests, but not the agency with another hefty fee.

Feel free to ask more questions. Good luck,

CS

If they are both not proven, I would personally go with the younger one although it is still no guarantee. Have you asked your RE to give you an opinion? Mine for instance would not accept the 31 yo on the basis of her age, period.

Good luck

thank you everyone for your advice. I am going with an agency and the clause sounds like a good idea. We will be meeting with an attorney on Thursday. Are there any other clauses I should be aware of? We also can only afford this one time, and I am hoping that there will be enough embies to freeze after.

Our ED was an only child with no siblings, never married, never been pregnant, and never donated. She was in her late 20's and gave us a wonderful bunch of eggs with several to freeze and our 1st time SM (married with 2 kids) got pregnant the 1st try with our ED's eggs and DH's stuff. WE have a beautiful 1 1/2 year old from our "inexperienced, unproven, late 20's ED." Our 1st ED had siblings, was married, had been pregnant, had 2 boys of her own, was in her early 20's, and had donated successfully for every couple she had been matched with and we never had a pregnancy using her eggs and 2 different SM's. So "proven" is a BIG MYTH for us!!!!
