Just came back from a lap, have good news to report!

Ladies,

I just came back from a lap at the hospital. I can't wait to report to you what the doctor found out.

A quick history, we did 4 rounds of DIUI (one natural, 3 with 50 mg clomid). I had great response each time with 2-3 mature follicles, but all 4 were BFN. So, my RE recommended a lap to make sure everything is in good working order.

Guess what? Both of my tubes were blocked over 50%! I was shocked because I had a HSG last year and it was normal. The RE explained to me that even if my tubes are 10% open, the fluid can pass through, I can still have a normal HSG, but that doesn't mean my tubes are open. My tubes are mostly blocked, but not totally blocked, that's why a normal HSG, but it would be very hard to get pregnant. I think it all make sense now!

The RE talked to my DH while I was in recovery room. RE seemed very happy. He told my DH now he found out why 4 IUIs didn't work, and he was able to unblock both tubes and they are now both clear. I'm starting injectables in March, he think we are having a great chance!

I'm happy!

Susan

Susan - Thank you for posting this... I just recently had HSG and it turned out good, but your story makes me think that I may have a folse sense of security.

I have just done my 3rd DIUI. If this one doesn't work, I may ask for lap as well.

Was it painfull? How was your experience with lap? During or after lap?

I am glad to hear that your problem is fixed!
Wishing you lots of sticking vibes!!

Horizon! I saw your posts on the other boards, and I was hoping you would see my story. So, I'm glad you saw it!

I had a HSG last May and all is normal. I had 4 BFNs in a role, so my RE felt it was time for a lap. Before the lap, I was questioning him if it was necessary since my HSG was clear, he said yes! According to him, HSG is inconclusive sometimes.

The procedure was a piece of cake for me. It was only 40 minutes, then 40 minutes in recovery. I was under general anethesia, so I don't remember a thing. I have two small incisions, one at the bellybutton, the other at the hair line. I'm having a little bit of bleeding, but nothing bad. I will need to take it easy this weekend, then resume normal activity on Monday.

Horizon, I hope you get your BFP so that you don't need to do the lap! In no way did I mean HSG is not necessary or not a good test. But just for my case, I'm glad I did the lap!

Take care!
Susan

Susan, I am glad to hear you are doing good. I think I now have a better idea of how the lap is, since I have had my gallbladder removed in the past and it sounds just like that except I had 4 incisoins, one at belly botton, two on the right side of the belly and one in the middle & upper part of the abdomen. I remember the recovery was pretty fast.

I need to find out what my insurance coverage is to do the lap. You are totally right though... I hope I do get the BFP this cycle and hopefully don't have to worry about the lap.

But I really appreciate you sharing your story here... I now know that having a positive outcome on HSG is great but MAY not be enough... At least thanks to you, I now know what to do next....

I wish you a speedy recovery and GREAT LUCK with the injectables after your lap I hear that the preg. success rates are much better after lap w/injectables. So I think your time is coming up! Here is for a BFP news!!!

Have a great weekend!

My lap request was denied. They said HSG showed free flowing and that lap was not necessary at this time. arrggh... I hate insurance companies!!

Anyway I am done with the OBGYN. I made an appointment with a RE clinic today. My fist appt is by next Thursday, 03/01.

I am starting with injectables IUI's from now on... no more clomid for me!

Hey, that's great! I thought you weren't going to be seeing an RE this soon from your post in the sticky thread. Awsome. I wish you the best.

Yeah, things have changed.. I decided to move on to RE. I don't seem to get anywhere with OB. She just can't be too agressive and the standard protocol just don't work for me... I have to start with the injectables.

I am excited to finally be able to move on with RE

Thanks for the nice wishes!

Good luck to you too
