More questions on picking our DS...

I am sorry...I have more questions and needs some advice.

Here is my dilemma....What sperm bank to use.

1st option - Midwest - located in IL $650/3 Vials
2nd option - California Cryobank $1,485.00/3 Vials

DH is AA...so there aren't many donors to choose from. I found one through Midwest. I called my IF Nurse Cord. and asked what the success rate is with the people she knows using them. She said out of 20 couples...she has had 3 successes. Post thaw is 20-30 million per sample.

I asked her who the "top dog" is and she said California Cryo...They are more $$ and only have approx 10 million post thaw...but she has seen a higher success rate.

We are on limited funds. We do have enough for CA Cryo 3 vial...or we could do Midwest and get 6 vials.

I am so torn on what bank to use. I could use your advice/guidance.

Smile Good News on picking a donor!

Ok...I think I have made my final choice!

I checked California Cryo...and they didn't have a donor that met my criteria.

I talked with Midwest and this donor has had reported pregnancies! And he is available in my area!

I justed talked with DH and it's a go! I am so happy I have tears!

Ttc is a bumpy trip, ask for as much hand-holding to get through it as you need.

Don't look at the price, look at the donor! I would make your decision on how comfortable you are with the donor choice, not the fee. I know the money part sucks, but are the two different donors really comparable?

Great advice above from two wise oldtimers at FT!! Just a supportive reply here to say we had SO MUCH trouble with donor selection - it is just so so hard. And when you have a dh, I think there something about having to select a donor brings that brings IF all home - there just really is no substitute for dh. Try to trust that the universe is helping you along - it put the calling to have children into your heart, and it is gently nudging you in directions that will bring a waiting angel into your family, somehow, some way.

Mindy, just wanted to jump in and say good luck! I know its very difficult in selecting a donor. I agree with what someone said: choose the donor you want even if it means spending more money. Its worth it in the long run, and we had to make financial sacrifices to do it, but dont regret it. I'll keep my fingers crossed that this cyyle is successful for you Keep us posted!

Donor is officially on order!

We picked our donor! We will be doing our first DIUI this time next month!

Both DH & I are very happy with our choice! I can't believe this is real...it is so exciting and so difficult to keep to myself. I just want to share the news with the people around me...but we are not disclosing this to anyone. The only people I told are you guys...and you have been so supportive and helpful...so thank you!

I finally feel like I can start browsing around for baby furniture, clothing etc. I know...that our journey isn't over and it could take awhile yet...but for 5 years I haven't even allowed myself to look.

I am so happy DH & I are moving forward with DIUI and I am so happy I found this message board!

Mindy and Susan,
I am starting my first DIUI in March too. Look like we will be cycling together. Are you taking any meds with it? I will do clomid, just to insure a good egg.
