Pick Donor...I have a question

How much of your decision do you way on if the DS has a reported pregnancy?

We have one DS to choose form at the Midwest Bank...he has no reported pregnancies. Midwest is 50% cheaper than all of the other banks. Should I go to a more expensive DS that has reported pregnancies?

What are your thoughts?

Moving on to DIUI!

Why is there only 1 donor you can chose from? We went through California Cryo. They are very expensive but we had many choices. This way DH got to pick.

Hi Mindy, (pg mentioned)

I have the same question: why do they only have one donor available? I'm not familiar with this bank, so I don't have much more info to share.
We went through Fairfax and had a good selection. We did choose a donor who had a pg reported, and our RE suggested we choose a proven donor.
We were able to get pg on our first diui. Good luck!

Sorry...guess I should have explained...

Our fist choice is to go with Midwest because of the price $650 for 3 vials - includes shipping.

DH is African American and there are only 3 black DS to choose from. One of them ix mix, the other is already taken for my area...leaving me with 1 choice. (California & all the other banks only have maybe 4-5 to choose from and are double the price.)

We are on limited funds...so I thought if we went with Midwest we could go up to 6 rounds for that price.

Mindy~ I did not realize the banks were so limited. Do youo know if the donors been used at all? That may be why there are no reported pregs.

GinaB~ Did you like Fairfax? Are they about the same price as California Cyro? Or are they affiliated?

I have a call in to Midwest to find out more about this donor! Hopefully they will have all the answers I am looking for. Man I hate waiting for call backs.

I had my DH look at the profile last night. Man he's not very helpful. Looks like he is leaving the choice up to me. Once I find out more about this donor I will know if I should look at another bank with more options and + Pregnancies.

Deneil - Noticed you were from the Valley...I am from Chilton! It's always nice to see someone else from the area! Keep warm!

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!

Have you tried Reproductive Resources here? I know they have a few AA donors listed. I don't know the price but they have good background info and medical info on donors. I wouldn't think a pregnancy would matter because we had an ED who had 2 children and pregnancies for her couples with ALL her donations. WE did not get a pregnancy withh her eggs with 2 surrogate Moms. We went with an egg donor who had NEVER donated, was an only child, unmarried, and no children. We have several frozen embryos and an adorable 1 1/2 year old boy on the 1st try for our 1st time surrogate Mom. Proven is a "myth" for us!!
