Cycle Cancelled (xpost)
Our donor went in today for US & BW. Retrieval was supposed to be on Sunday. Apparently between US on Tues & today several of the 20-22 follies split and only three took the lead at 22mm, 16mm, & 14mm. RE didn't want to have us go through transfer with only 3 potential viable eggs considering what we've already been through plus the amount of $$ for a donor cycle.
We could use the same donor with different protocols, or choose another donor. We opted for choosing another donor and we're choosing one who has already proven good response to the meds AND full-term recipient pg's. DH & I are currently looking at two profiles right now. I don't care anymore about the physical characteristics so much...she could be a friggin unicorn at this point! I'm just so tired of being smacked down each time we try to build our family. I promise...I'll be better in a few days. Right now I get to go rip 4 estrogen patches off my abdomen and take 2cc's of progesterone. Yipee.

Loie,
I'm sorry to hear of your suffering. Best wishes for the new donor. My thoughts are with you. -rb

Barging..
I am so sorry! I just don't get it!! On one hand, I'm glad your RE didn't push it to continue if he thought it wasn't the best case scenario, but WTH??? If anyone deserves a best case scenario, it's you!! I still believe your family is going to find you, I'm just ticked off it's taking you through the wringer to get there. Sulk, cry, vent all you'd like. I'd be on the floor kicking and screaming. Many hugs coming your way..

I'm so sorry to hear about your experience....I have been down that road before...we had a donor that we really liked and had gotten emotionally attached to and then right befroe retrieval they canceled her cycle. I was heartbroken.
Much like you, we decided to move to proven donor so that we wouldn't have to go through the heartbreak again. Our donor didn't share physical characteristics with me as the first donor had, but her eggs had gotten someone pregnant and she had a good profile otherwise and those were the only things that ultimately mattered to me at that point. And we had success, so i know we made the right choice.... |
