1st Time DE cycler; How much Lupron?

Hello,
Some of you may have seen me on the IVF boards in the past year. Over the course of 2006 we had one cancelled IVF and 3 failed IVFs. During the year we learned that my FSH is high, I am borderline poor ovarian reserve, have poor response to stims, and poor embryo quality. All factors point to my eggs.

2007...we're moving on to donor eggs... from my younger sister, who has always been very fertile. We both start meds later this month and retrieval is scheduled for the week fo Mar 19.

My nurse just went over my instructions with me. They have me starting out on 15 units of lupron. Here's my question: Have any of you been or heard of someone being oversuppressed even in a donor egg protocol? I am worried because I was on 15 units of Lupron last February and I was way oversuppressed. My IVF was cancelled, my period delayed so much that I had to take 2cc progesterone to bring it on... it was a 46 day cycle. (Normally I am very regular) Should I be concerned that this could happen again, that my lining will not respond to the estrogen because of too much lupron? Or am I in a completely different ball game now?

I mentioned it to my nurse today and she said she'd ask my Dr... She said they usually start everyone out on 15 units lupron. I go in Thursday for some bloodwork and I'd like to have an idea if I should press further.

Thank you for your time

My RE had me on 15 units of Lupron, the protocol is so much easier and different when using donor instead of your own, Good luck, try to to stay relaxed

I'm sure your RE knows what he/she is doing. I started off on 10 units Lupron and then went down to 5. I was/still on Estrace too with the Lupron. The protocol is definitely different when using a donor. Good luck!

Trust your RE. If he says 15 U then do 15. Eventually the dose will go down. You are the recipient, they want you suppressed throughout since they are not using your eggs; you are on a different ball game, for you. Also, everyone is different. I've seen people take 20U and not being oversuppressed.

good luck and welcome to the donor bb,

We all can relate, dry mouth, headaches, etc, but it is all worth it for a BFP

Dry mouth... I am growing gills from how much water I'm drinking. One of the side effect is increased urination, which naturally leads to dehydration, which in turn can lead to headaches. Vicious circle.

Drink up!
