Question Donor IUI

For those of you who have done donor sperm IUI, how many inseminations did you do, 1 or 2. Does doing 2 really increase the chance of BFP or is 1 just as effective.

I think a well timed 1 will do it.

It took 5 for us - but I am 36.

We did 2 a day apart and I truly think it was the second that took, but you never know. I feel most comfortable w/ 2 over 1.

If you do a trigger shot, then one is fine. I had one at 35 hours after hcg and got pregnant on my first, third, fifth and seventh tries(and I have pcos and was in my mid thirties at the time). I m/c twice(due to pcos). My RE only ever does one with a trigger shot.

Two is a waste of money. Have an HCG shot and do the insemination about 36-40 hours later. I did 9 cycles, only one of them (my very first) did I do two back to back inseminations (a day apart) and that one failed. The other 8 IUIS resulted in me getting pregnant 4 times (one blighted ovum, three actual successes).

We only did 1 insemination, and had a u/s done just prior to ensure good follicles were present with good lining. We got a bfp on that cycle, thank god!

HCG shot is the key in my unscientific survey. I had one at the SAME TIME as my insemination, and that resulted in my baby girl after 5 failed tries!!

I did two IUIs both with only one insemination. With first I had a trigger shot and got a bfn. I ovulated on my own with the second and a bfp.

My SIL is an ob-gyn and asked me the same question. She said they usually do 2 but that if people have financial issues they only do 1 and tell those patients that 1 timed one is just as good. Hate to think that someone is trying to make money off those of us that have already gone through so much but maybe they are.
