Anyone allergic to progesterone....

Hi, I somehow developed allergy to progesterone and get itchy hives while on progesterone supplements. I am scheduled for IVF with donor eggs and will be using PIO shots. Does anyone else have allergic reaction to progesterone and what did your RE recommend?

Thanks.

Donna

Hi Donna,

I'm glad you asked this question! I too am suffering. I didn't have any problems at all until after about 3 weeks. Now I have 4 * half inch hives on my behind ! My nurse said to ice and use benadryl if necessary. It does seem to help but they don't go away - they just seem to go down then come back with a vengence when I work out or get hot !

I'm interested to see what anyone else days !

Isn't progesterone you're using in an oil base which could be potentially what you are allergic to. I understand there are many different bases. Could someone who is more experienced confirm this? Perhaps you could ask your RE, too.

I got hives from the patch... very very annoying little things.

Peanut oil

The progesterone is usually in peanut oil. There are other ways of getting the medicine talk to your doctor. I had this problem and they gave me suppositories.

Hi ladies,
Thank you all for the replies. I actually developed hives on Crione. Hopefully I'll tolerate PIO shots.

Donna.

Hi Ladies, I have had that on the suppositories, and when I checked the contents, even they have peanut oil!!!!!!
With me the hives covered my entire body, I didn't think it was the progesterone, but now I am really starting to worry!

call your RE I'm pretty sure there are other bases progesterone comes with. It's not unusual for people to be allergic to peanuts. Hives are nasty. I don't envy you.
