New to this board and currently doing sperm donor/IUI

I am new and I looking for encouraging stories around sperm donor/IUI process. I have now done 2 cycles and with no luck. Going for a 3rd month cycle with a double IUI hoping that does the trick. Can anyone give me advice or comments around doing this month after month?

Hi Penny

Welcome to FT! You've found the best place to be for IF support.
just wanted to wish you luck with this cycle. I'm keeping my fingers crossed you get a bfp! My dh and I did IUI with donor sperm as well. Our RE had prepared us that could take up to 5-6 cycles to get pregnant. We were fortunate to get pg. on our first attempt, and our little miracle is now 4 weeks old. Good luck to you and your dh!! Keep us posted on how this cycle goes ok?

Good luck, the double IUI just might do the trick! I had 9 donor IUI cycles, fell pregnant with three of them, unfortunately I miscarried, but that is a side effect of endometriosis...implantation is not easy in my situation.
I hope it works for you, best of luck

GinaB - You are very lucky, but I know I don't need to tell you that. That is awesome that is worked for you

Jen - I am so sorry that it hasn't worked out for you....are you still going at it every month?

Is anyone taking meds for the cycle liek clomid or anything?

Welcome Penny! Dh and I have done 3 diui's two were successful but sadly ended in m/c each time. All of my diui's were medicated. Two cycles with Clomid, Purgon and Ovidrel, one cycle with Femara, Puregon and Ovidrel. Does your RE have you on any medication or will you be trying the cycle unmedicated?

Best wishes for a bfp!

I would go with clomid. Doing clomid with a midcycle ultrasound and hcg shot really improves the timing. You can also save a bit as you really only need one diui then. We spent two years tryign to conceive before moving to donor. I got pregnant on my first, third, fifth and seventh tries with clomid(m/c twice due to progesterone issues). I had all my IUI's timed 35-36 hours after the hcg shot. Since I have pcos and was in my mid 30's, those were great odds of getting pregnant. We also used Fairfax and I highly recommend them. Hang in there. It took us three years, 15 medicated cycles(dh, then donor) before we got our miracle. It was so worth it in the end. Saying a prayer you get a quick success.

Truly miracles!

Yea, what they do is give the clomid... then have you come in like cd 11, 12 OR 13..... they want to catch it BEFORE you ovulate. The measure the follicle(egg) and when it is over 16(my RE liked closer to 20), they tell you when to take this hcg shot. Data shows it causes you to ovulate approximately 36 hours later... and since I only had one IUI each try, I really believe in that timing. They had me give myself(or dh or my mom) at say 10pm on monday night, then I went in wednesday morning at 9am for my IUI. Hang in there.... and keep trying. We spent over $30,000 to conceive our first miracle(out of pocket, insurance probably spent another $75,000) but it will so be worth it. Once your miracle is here, you won't be able to imagine any other baby in your life. Feel free to send me pm's, if you want to ask anything, that is why I say on these boards even though we are done trying to conceive... I went thru this whole donor thing without any internet and not telling anyone what we were doing. Praying for ya!

Our first Donor IUI was unmedicated and it worked the first time. Our DD is almost 3. We started again and it took 3 IUI's to stick. I agree clomid and a U/S to check follicle size and HCG was what worked for us. Of the 3 cycles 2 used HCG trigger. I M/C the first and am 20wks pg with the 3rd. We also used Fairfax with both pg.

Good luck. I am getting older and wanted to improve my chances so that's why we choose a medicated cycle.
