Interesting Fact preg ment

I just wanted to let everyone know what my nurse told me at my last visit. I think any reduction in stress is important. She said she sees more spotting with her donor patients and feels its because they have us on such high levels of estrogen. I wish I would have known that sooner but since I'm still having some brown spotting here and there at almost 10 weeks it gives me some peace of mind.

Thanks for sharing.

Stress is to blame for many of our ailments. If anything, you can do that same routine I mentioned for migraines, without having one (bonus), to relax and don't forget the lavender; I love lavender

Best wishes

Since there are plenty of women who don't spot after doing DE IVF, I would have to say that the donor/estrogen variable isn't what causes spotting. I think it is an individual thing . She should have just told you that many women spot in early pregnancy and it's quite normal !

Kylie,

I interpreted it as not just estrogen, but HIGH level of estrogen which would in turn could be a potential source for stress which is the real culprit of the spotting.

Oscer,

Am I misreading? I am also known to have my wheels constantly turning and often over nothing. Stress reduction will be a big one for me... in fact I should start now

I understood what she meant, I just don't happen to agree with it ! Plenty of newly pregnant women have issues with spotting who didn't do donor, so how do you explain their spotting? I think it's just an individual thing. You may or may not have spotting/bleeding in your pregnancy no matter what course of treatment, or having had treatment at all. I think the nurse should have just mentioned that it's very common and not necessarily anything to be overly concerned about, not that it could be blamed on her estrogen therapy. I'm curious why a high estrogen level would or could cause bleeding? Everything I've read states that estrogen is vital to getting and maintaining a pregnancy, your level can't be too high. I just don't see a connection between the two but would love to understand where the nurse was coming from.

Are you saying that stress causes spotting? I've never heard that one either ? Now I'm very confused! I never read anywhere that high levels of estrogen were stressors. I think Oscer meant that she was stressed out about her spotting and the nurse was trying to give her an explanation for it, which was possiblly high estrogen.

I agree with Kylie. The spotting has nothing to do with whether or not you've used DE or DS. I see lots & lots of ladies cycling over on the IVF bb, & a lot of them spot, but didn't use any donors. Also what Kylie said about the high levels of estrogen making you a little more easily stressed, so the spotting could make you feel more stressed, but it's not the high amounts of Estrogen that cause you to spot. I've always had LOADS of Estrogen supplementation during my cycles, but have never once had a single speck of blood during any of my cycles.

It's just something that happens, whether you've done IF tx, or whether you've conceived naturally. Spotting is part of what happens to (some) people when the uterus begins to grow from the baby growing.

Good luck with your pregnancy!

Karen

I don't know about DE and DS making a difference or not; I had not even registered the two acronyms until BC-KarenS-MI pointed it out.

I found information about high estrogen and stress. Cf.

I have seen stress magnify ailments or trigger otherwise easily thwarted ailments. I don't feel it's that far fetched to think that it didn't help with the spotting. It's just a feeling I have from what I've seen. Sorry if I'm causing confusion Just trying to make sense out of it all.

I didn't mean to cause a big debate here. All my nurse said was she sees more of her patients who used donor egg than those who didn't have spotting and attributes it to the high levels of estrogen they have us on. It just made me feel a little better when she said that. I'm having spotting again and my ob want to see me tomorrow for another ultrasound. It will be a week and one day since we saw the heartbeat on the last ultrasound. I am 10 weeks today and scared.
