Has anyone had any good/negative experiences using Xytex or Fairfax?

Dh and I had a good experience with Fairfax. We began diui last December, thawed 1 vial (we bought a total of 6, in case we needed more for a poor post thaw or for future attempts) and only needed one vial for the 1st attempt. We had a good count, post thaw of 62 million with 42% motility. We were blessed to get a bfp on our first try (it was a natural cycle for me) and our little girl was born last Saturday. I had a good pg, no problems, and no complications with the birth and she is very healthy. We're currently storing our remaining vials and intend on ttc #2 sometime next Spring.
I dont have any info on Xytex. We really only looked at Fairfax and California Cryobank. Good luck to you in your search! Take care Gina |

I had five 'fertilizations' out of six cycles of DIUI's using sperm from Xytex. One of the cycles I used two units, the others--one unit. I m/c'd three of the cycles.
When I was ttc in 2000, the customer service I received was AWESOME! When I ttc in 2004---not so great. Don't know what it is like now. The results are priceless to me though. Good luck! Choosing a donor is challenging. Dana Single and Family |

Good luck...I looked at three CA cryo..and xytex..and another.cant remember so long ago....We went with the bank that had a donor that matched our criteria....we needed a tall strawberry blond with light skin....and xytex had him.... Hi, my hands are shaking because I just ordered our first vials from Fairfax!!! I let my DH pick both the bank and donor, with my approval of course. This is so hard, I wanted him to have some control. He actually picked someone who is 4 inches taller than him and has blond hair. I have blond hair, but DHs is brown. He did pick his same eye color. We ordered 2 vials, how many do most people order? With all that we've spent on ivf I didn't want to order too many, at 370$ a piece. I had read on FT to ask for the best vials, and she did make a note of that. Maybe it will help!!!

The first time I ordered 4 vials.....the next time I took the last two as the donor was out of the program....this last time...after he was asked to start donating for siblings...I bought 3....our vials were not as expensive as Fairfaxes....ours were 200.00...I think...for unwashed.....
Good luck!

Hi Abby,
Congrats on ordering your vials! When we ordered our vials I was so excited because we had made the decision to do DIUI, and hopefully we were making progress at having a child. Actually we ordered 6 vials from Fairfax, only because the donor we chose was no longer donating and only had a total of 10 vials left remaining when we ordered. We both really liked this donor and wanted to make sure we had enough stored in case we needed more during the post thaw, or if took multiple attempts to achieve a bfp. DH also wanted to choose our donor, to have a bit more control of the situation, but in the end it was more of a joint decision. DH also chose a donor who is much taller, (dh is 5'8, donor is 6'3) however the eye color and hair color matches dh. It didnt bother dh that the donor was taller, he said he'd like a child who is tall anyway I know its expensive to buy a lot of vials, because I think ours were about the same price as what you paid. I think buying 2 vials is a good idea.....so when you have the insemination done, if you need 2 vials you'll have it on hand. I think we would have done that if our donor had more vials at Fairfax. When do you hope to inseminate? next cycle? I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you I hope you will soon have a bfp of your own.Gina |
