Kind of interesting (at least to me!)

I am an American and I live in Europe. I've gone twice to two other countries for surgeries. (Insurance wouldn't pay for them).

So now I would like to do DE and get pg. I can't afford state side prices but when I look at places that a lot of British forum site about infertiility- they all talk about going to Spain, Ukraine, Poland etc.

Where do people in the US go when they can't afford US prices? I can do a complelte fertily package for about $6,000 including travel and hotel. (I live in Europe so travel won't be expensive). Isn't US prices around $25,000 or more? If this doesn't work- I'd like to adopt- so I can't spend it all at once.

I don't know about fertility treatments, but lots of Americans (especially here in the south) go to Mexico for plastic surgery and dentistry because the price is so much less.

I have heard of people going to India for fertility treatments but don't know anyone here who has done it.

Some of the people in the states do shared cycles which cuts down the price a lot or use clinics that have donor pools. It's when you use an agency to get your de the price goes up a lot! Still I'm not sure if someone can do a de cycle at only 6K with travel expenses included.

My first IVF in the states was about $7.000 plus drugs if I remember correctly. That was using my own eggs.

What is the average cost in the stages using donor eggs? What is the wait time to get into the programs? I'm not considering going to the states to do it. Truthfully, I'm just curious to compare it. I assume it is still greater then the $6,000 that I can do it here for. I need to keep money in reserve for adoption if all else fails.

I used an agency for my de so it was over $30k that is including everything (ivf, meds, agency fees, donor fees etc.). I waited to "find" the right donor a few mos, but when I found her we only had to wait for the results of her bloodwork before we started to cycle.

I don't believe that I've ever seen anyone from here go outside of the US when they can't afford tx any more. Most people feel leery of medical practices, etc. in other countries so they won't venture outside of the states.

It really varies from RE to RE as to the cost & whether or not you use an agency to find your donor. It only cost us $14,000 the first time & $12,000 the second time- that includes everything & we got our donor through our RE's donor pool.

Some ladies like 50/50 spend over $25,000, but that's not always the norm. Like I said, there are a lot of factors that come into play with the cost.
