Another newbie (child mentioned)

I have one daughter from IVF donor sperm. She's 7. I want another child. I'v tried various ways but I haven't done anything for the last 2 years.

I was thinking about adopting but I'm really afraid of drug or alcohol babies. so, now I need to decide between donor eggs/sperm or adoption.

How do you find donor eggs? What about going to Ukraine or Russia? Have you done that? Met w/ success?

Thanks,

Cathy

Hi Cathy,
I've never heard of anyone going to the Ukraine or Russia for an egg donor. I think that would add a huge expense to the already expensive process.

Is there a reason that you would use DE instead of your own eggs & donor sperm? I see that you did an IVF before with ds.

Some RE's have their own egg donor pool that you can choose from; or you can use an agency, but that will add quite a bit of money to your costs. You can also find your donor independently but then you really need to be careful with your selection. You'd also need to take care of all of the legal aspects for a contract & that your attorney knows how to work with donor contracts.

I would first look to your RE's office & see if they have a donor pool that you can choose from. Also, some RE's have a donor embryo program where you can get donor embryo's. If you're looking to use donor eggs & donor sperm, then donor embryo's might be a cheaper option for you.

Good luck in your search!

You are right- I used the wrong words- I should have said donor embryo's instead of eggs plus sperm. I don't want to use my own eggs due to my current age. Plus when I was younger, it didn't work.

I've read about two clinics in Ukraine and in Russia -and they are less expensive- so I've thought about there. I emailed them yesterday but don't expect a response until tomorrow.

Right now.. I'm trying out ideas. Maybe adoption. I just know that I want/need a second child however the child comes about.

Just fyi - LOTS and LOTS of people are going to Moscow, St. Pete and Ukraine and especially Barcelona Spain for Egg Donors and or sperm - they also have embryo donation. I have 3 european friends right now in process - one is going to Riga Latvia for embryos.

You can google for the clinic is Spain - they are very responsive to the emails. For Egg donation (using hubbys sperm) is 12k US.
