Question Blood Type Question

My DH and I use donor sperm, have been for five and a half years. But here in Africa, the choices are few, and I am having trouble choosing a donor this time.
I would usually go for someone with A- blood, that is my type, DH is A+. But this time there are no donors available with A- blood.
Just to enlighten you a little, I have had 3 m/c, one with rhesus neg blood and 2 with rhesus pos. Only with the last one did I use the anti D injection. So does that mean that I may still have the anti D antibodies in my blood? Should I rather go with a rhesus neg blood type? The only Rhesus - donor available is B-. Or do I go for a donor with A+ blood, which is the same type as DH but could cause problems for the baby if I have the antibodies?
Please help!!!!

Here's the lowdown on RH factor and blood types

http://www.biology.arizona.edu/Human...pes/Intro.html

Basically, even if you use an RH- donor you still can have an RH positive child, so worrying + vs. - only matters if both parents are -.

I would have the RE give you a Rhogam shot, or whatever the equivalent is for Africa. I think once you have the shot, you don't need a booster, but I'm sure someone else can help you with that.

All the best for a successful cycle and I'm so sorry for your losses.

Emily

Thanks Emily,
The link you gave me was very helpful, and has decided us at last on the donor issue. Funny, I learnt all that at school, but had forgotten most of it!
As I mentioned before, I had the shot after my last m/c, so it should be fine. We have decided to go with the donor who has a negative blood type anyway, because we still have some sperm left over from last time and decided to just stick to the same donor even though he is B- and DH is A+.
Thanks again,
Jen

JenNell,

You should check with your RE for such an important question.

I am looking for an ED; I asked one question to my RE about Rh pos and neg. He said that so long as I am Rh pos, there is no need for injections. That is all I know of this
