We just chose yet another ED; we are hoping this one will pass the medical examination.
I have a question for you ladies. Please, let me know if you are referring to a proven donor or not and what med was used to begin synch Here is the Q:How long did it take between the moment you picked the ED and the moment you started getting synchronized with the ED? If you want to expand as to what happened during that time, feel free to do so. I didn't want to ask too much ![]() Thanks a bunch, CS

We used a first time donor. I was on bcp and lupron.
Well it took a while only because we had to get her cleared with the exams, waiting for results, getting the final agreement signed off etc. I think we picked her in the end of Feb and I had the transfer in the end of April. |

I'll answer about the syncing, at least what they told me at our consult.
When I reviewed the protocol with the DE nurse we'd do BCP and when we got closer in sync I'd go on lupron and apparently stay on lupron during the estrogen 'candies' and patches to build the lining. The goal is to have me about one week ahead of the donor in order to have time to correct any lining issues and have a good thick lining once I got to ET. We picked our donor(not proven) this morning and paid our agency fees. I know the donor has to do the fertility, pysch, genetics testing and consents before we start syncing. I'm really hoping she gets through the hoops by mid to late Sept. and we can start syncing in October. Maybe we can be buddies, what do you say? Best of luck to you getting this donor through the gamut. Emily

Thank you for the replies so far; I hope others will chime in. I'm really curious to see if two month is the norm.
50/50, did your donor do a karyotype before you proceeded with the cycle? That alone takes a while just to get results from. thebabyproject, I sincerely hope will be able to buddy. It will take a week or so before I know if she passed the preliminary interview with the RE. Then the battery of exams like yours and all the paperwork. This is officially our 5th pick; every time something has gone wrong at some point |

We selected our donor on July 19th and retrieval was December 9th, so 4 1/2 months.
We had legal contracts to work out, she had a basic medical check up with my doctor. She was already on birth control. I had to take a month of BCP, then started our cycle. She had already been through psych and major medical testing when we selected her.

CS, mine will have to do a karyotype and genetic counseling at Emory, which DH and I had ours done and it took 4 weeks. That's the one that I'm hoping they go ahead and draw during her initial appt. If they wait until after she does her pysch testing and counseling like they'd normally would for one of the "pool" donors, then it might add some weeks to the wait.
I know the donor will be back to college soon, so I'm hoping we get things scheduled before that. Though apparently her college is only an hour from Atlanta anyway. 50/50 a karyotype maps the chromosomes and looks for any sort of genetic problems. Emily |

50/50,
here is a link for more information about karyotype: http://learn.genetics.utah.edu/units.../karyotype.cfm My RE strongly recommends it to be done. -- thebabyproject, My ED has had her genetic counseling interview on the phone and MMP2 + interview with counselor, which are a joke imo; looks like canned letters to me. Nothing my RE can't catch when he talks to them; he doesn't take the agencies stuff for granted thank goodness. It makes sense when you consider is is in their interest to push the ED through. I plain don't trust them anymore; I did once. Just like you, we'll have to wait 4 weeks to get the results back from the karyotype and usually it takes about 1 to 2 weeks for the preliminary appointment to take place. I believe that if the appointment/interview goes well, she will do the blood test. But for now, I'm waiting for her to get passed the first line of fire, the RE's ED questionnaire. I have a feeling when all is said and done, it will be a good 4 months. I don't know about you, but I am burning with impatience; it's been too long already and this one is not in the bag yet. CS |
