Progesterone Shots

Been having progesterone shots in the hip for 8 weeks now after my DE transfer and have 2 more weeks to go. I am having numbness at the injection sight and am very concerned. Does anyone know if this is temporary or permanent?

Pregnancy Ment.

I am a 4X gestational surrogate currently 34w5d pregnant and I have done the progesterone in oil injections with each of my cycles, and for me, have perfected the injections so that I don't have any lingering numbness or knots.

I have a heating pad that I put in the microwave to get nice and warm. I fold the pad in half and place the PIO vial in the crease, then place the pad directly on my skin on the side that my DH will be injecting into. I leave it there for about 20 minutes. We then immediately draw up the hot oil into the syringe using an 18g needle, switch to a 25g needle and inject the oil into my warm bottom. I then reheat the heating pad and put it back on my skin for another 20 minutes. That's it. No rubbing at all as that just makes knots for me. With this method I hardly even buise let alone of numbness or knots.

If you are injecting with a 25g needle, make sure you inject very, very slowly.

Good luck,

Sirell

It didn't matter what we tried, I had numbness in the area of the injection for a couple years!! It did get better over time, so it's not like it was as numb toward the end as it was in the beginning. For my last cycle, it took almost 2 years from the time I had my last shot for the pea sized knots to go completely away & for the numbness to be completely gone!

It's very normal. Everyone is different, so you might not have the sensations as long as I did.

It's all worth it though!
