Suggestions of what to do with left over sperm

Okay.....We are done...last baby for sure! But I have two vials left! Not sure what to do with them.....I hate to dump them(they are expensive!) I hate to give them back to the bank...they wont buy them back and they would probably sell them to someone else!!

I could have them send them to my house...and I could put them next to the old breast milk I refuse to dump because I worked so hard to pump it!! Okay just kidding! about the sperm...not the bm.....

Any suggestions???
Tracy

California Cryobank has a program where you can release "left over" samples, and they will make them available only to others who have donor conceived children and are looking for sperm for a sibling. I think that's how it works. Maybe xytex has something like this? I felt so much better about releasing the samples to that program than if we had to just dispose of them or give them back to the bank to sell to just anyone. I know how frustrated I was when I couldn't find any more sperm from the donor we used to help conceive my son, so it was nice to think maybe another person in that situation might get our unused vials. Share the bounty, you know? It doesn't solve the money-spent issue, but it does solve the problem of having them around. -maria2

Hi. I didn't know you did donor. We're on the infant loss board together. Anyway, what I did, I knew after two I was done and I got pregnant both times with one vial, so I had one left over. I knew my sperm bank still had lots of vials from my donor, just in case I changed my mind. I did have them destroyed at the clinic they were kept at. Such a waste of sperm and money! But I just felt this was the best thing to do, didn't want to donate them, didn't want another child in my county running around who might look like my children! So I had them destroyed

Oh sue, I do understand that.....

I also understand what it is like to want just one more vial....and none left! After Claire, I had one vial left.....I could work...ha.....fortunatly someone else had our donor re donate....and I was able to get a couple of vials after two months!

I feel very fortunate to have been able to use the same donor for all my pgs! Besides I have very cute kids(if I may say so!! LOL) I promised dh when we started down this journey....that our kids would all be biologically related.....
I may call xytex and see what I can do.......I am NOT paying anymore storage fees! I have been storing sperm for the last 7 yrs!! Time for this chapter in my life to be over!

Tracy, let me ask ya, are your first two kids not from donor sperm?? I was just wondering. We did donor because we both carried a genetic disease, which is why my son passed away.

My kids are so darn cute too! lol In fact, they are gorgeous.

ms sea ...I'm de-lurking here to give you one more potential option. You can go onto www.donorsiblingregistry.com and see if anyone is looking for a vial of your donor. If you're not familiar with that site, it allows children conceived through donor sperm or donor eggs to register (parents can also register). Often times there are people looking for another vial(s), so that like you, they can have biologically related children.

Sue and Tracy, you both have gorgeous boys, I think it's too bad I only have three girls that need mates ;o). I think most donor sperm kids are adorable, not a toad in the group!
