ultrasound question (pg ment)
I had my first u/s at 6 wks and we saw a heartbeat. RE released me that day. OB's office said they didn’t' know when they could get me in for an u/s, maybe in three weeks. I don't want to wait that long. I'm totally paranoid something is going to go wrong, like maybe the heartbeat will just disappear or something! I don't know if I should call my RE's office and ask for a 7 wk u/s or what I should do. Any advice?
p.s. I had a dream last night that I got my period. Full blown. Woke up in a panic. Ugh. I thought I'd be so much calmer after the heartbeat...but nooooo!!!

Enjoy the good news; focus on the good aspects. You are nurturing your child
which is more than some of us can say. Take it one day at a time and don't ponder what you cannot control; stress is not good for you. Anytime you catch yourself thinking negatively, do something that will refocus your mind, e.g. read a book, call a friend. Not easy I know, but you must give it a try for the little pea in the pod. ![]() It's a great news! CS |

TRY to relax!
Most OB's are not going to give you u/s's every visit or even more than a couple times during the entire pregnancy, unless you have complications. Once I released to my OB, I only got 1 u/s & that was at 18w, which is your regular u/s. If you're really concerned, you could call your RE & ask them to do another u/s next week, just for your peace of mind, but be prepared that they may say no. It's VERY easy to worry about every little thing during your pregnancy, but PLEASE, do not worry the entire pregnancy away!! When I was pg with my 1st, there was a gal on the due date bb with me who worried about EVERY little thing. When she had her baby she was SO sad that she had literally worried about so many things that she truly didn't enjoy that beautiful time. Sadly, that was going to be her only pg, unless she got pg on her own- so she "wasted" that once in a lifetime event by worrying so much. As for the dream- when I was pg with my 1st, I had a horrible dream, it woke me up from a deep sleep & I was crying & gasping for breath. I had to tell myself that it was ONLY a dream & that I wasn't going to allow that to paralyze me with fear. Take a deep breath & remember that you can either worry about things that you can't control, or you can grab the bull (or pregnancy! ) by the horns & enjoy EVERY little thing out of this amazing journey that you're beginning!![]() Karen

I am the same. Every time I reach one hurdle I think I'll feel better but then I stress about the next step. I can tell you that we really should try to relax. I did this with my son and didn't enjoy being pregnant at all. I really want to enjoy this one.

Thanks, Karen and cs1984cs. Oscer, I am with you on trying to relax. For me, I think since I had two previous losses right around this time, I am especially nervous. My RE's office told me to come in for another ultrasound today, which I did. Everything is fine, the baby is growing and I got to see and hear the heartbeat. Okay, I'm breathng a big sigh of relief and will move on to the OB!
Keep us posted on your progress!

It is worth it in my opinion to also rent a baby beat when you are about 13 weeks. I just kept mine till I could feel the baby kicking regularly, but it was quite conforting. good luck and hang in there!!

Hey Genie,
Isn't that heart beat just the sweetest sound!!!! We went yesterday for our first ultrasound. It was wonderful. The baby looked liked a little bean, we got a picture of he or she. Good luck through out the rest of your pregnancy and enjoy every minute. to you
