A plan of action set

DH and I have made some decisions. We're going to use an agency. I'm going to weed down my 2-4 favorites and then look with him at them and decide. And if we're lucky, she'll pass the clinic's tests and we'll be cycling this fall.

You may be thinking, hmmm, that doesn't sound like that big of a deal, but we've been flipping between agency and RE pool for a donor and I've been flipping as to how to pick a donor together. I've even been toying with the idea of putting this off until January. Somehow with using an egg donor it seems even easier to let things slide along.

So, maybe we'll even get one picked(and hopefully she accepts) by the end of the week. That's my hope. Then I'll be hoping she passes testing.

Home from Toronto, so a little catching up to do today, but wanted to say hello.

Emily

Emily... it probably feels great to have made a decision. This can be quite a journey and every step is an important one. Follow your heart and believe in yourselves. Miracles do come true. Please keep us posted as we are all very interested and care so much. Only us that struggle with these choices can truly share the feelings together. Keep smiling and to you.

Summer is a great time to get an ED match for us, IPs b/c a good number of EDs are home for the summer from school. This is the highest the several pool we monitor have been since we've started looking last Fall. It still is a roller coaster for us b/c we have been exceedingly unlucky at finding a donor; not that we didn't accept a good number of them, but so far have come empty handed. Essentially, I'm saying, don't put it off too long unless you're absolutely sure you want/need to and b/c you never know if a week is all it will take to find the ED you are looking for.

To date we got burned by 2 agencies -- for example, once you pay the fee, be sure they are ethical enough to continue the search if something goes wrong with the ED you picked. Be very, very careful to question them on every possible aspect of their practices, be sure you understand exactly where their loyalty stands. This business feels like a racquet; they can take advantage of us easily. My mouth is extremely sour right now.

Good luck in your search,

CS

Strikes 1 and 2

grumble grumble grumble.

DH and I sat down and picked our top two choices and of course, #1's already promised to someone for an October cycle and #2's in cycle now. The agency woman will give me a sneak peek at the 4 she has coming through her pipeline to see if any of those interest me and she owes me one extended profile from the 6-8 I requested already.

We're reasonably high on the RE's list too, we're probably up to #5 now, so I don't mind looking at the agency's while I wait on the waitlist. My grandpa's quite ill right now and probably won't make it until the end of the month, so while I'd like to get one picked to be processing while we deal with that, I also know that I'm not going to push it if my wits aren't about me. Starting over with the looking is harder than asking about the ones I already had whittled down.

So, playing it by ear. Patience is a virtue I seem to keep having to relearn.

Emily
