HI -- Thanks for checking in! The appointment went okay. We saw the heart beating and everything looked fine with the sac, embryo etc. The hb was 92 which apparently is on the low side, but the nurse indicated it was in normal range. (The gestational age was 5 weeks 6 days on the date of the ultrasound). The bad news is that I have a "large" subchrionic hematoma to the right of the sac, which was causing some spotting. The nurse said that everything looks fine for now, but apparently this can be problematic and they will keep an eye on it. I have an US scheduled for next Friday. I am having less spotting, and what there is is brownish, I guess indicating old blood. So all in all okay, but I am a little freaked out about the hematoma!
I hope that everyone out there is doing okay! Thanks, Linda |

Linda,
My Friend had a hematoma also, she went on to deliver a healthy baby.....so try not to worry! It is a real good sign that is is brownish.....that does mean old blood! Got my fingers crossed for you! Tracy

Hi Linda,
I know that it's absolutely terrifying, but I know someone from here who had the same thing. SHe was pregnant with twins & had quite a few heavy bleeding episodes. I mean heavier than a very heavy period. Those bleeding episodes were a result of the subchorionic hematoma but she went on to delivery healthy twins!! As for the "low" heartbeat.......the nurse somehow forgot to tell you that you were lucky to even SEE the h/b at only 5w6d!!!! Of course it's slow right now, but I promise that when you have your u/s on Friday the h/b will definitely be faster! Keep us posted! Karen
