Question Alternative to FET

I haven't thought about it before since I only need an ED and have okay swimmers. I see people looking for donated embryos and struggling to find any. So what about finding an ED and ordering sperm from a bank, then have the RE put it together in the lab etc.

Is anyone doing this? Are there any reason for which it would no be advantageous as opposed to donated frozen embryos?

I did this because finding donated embryos was too difficult. Plus I wanted an embryo that was of the same ethnicity as DH and I. Doing it this way however is much more costly. My cycle was approx $30K +. But I have my dd now!!!

Donated embryos are not nearly as costly, the transfer for FET is a lot less then going through the whole ivf process and paying the ED a fee + meds.

Thanks for the reply 50/50.

FE are difficult to find, but less costly than DE and sperm from a bank; however, you're faced with few choices. Despite their cost, DE and bank-sperm would be relatively easier to find and allow for greater flexibility, in your case for ethnicity, but I can see that being a plus as well for other desirable traits the IP may seek.

Anybody else?

DH & I want to do IVF with donor eggs...but it's the cost thing for us. It will be about $16,000 if we did it with donor eggs. We have been matched with donated embies though and it will be less than $3,000.00. Now, we are very flexible with ethnicity and traits and all because our dd who we adopted domestically is cauc/aa/filipino and we are caucasian. So we are open to caucasian or bi-racial or whatever. But I could see where it would be much faster and probably worth the money to not have to deal with the wait and frustration if your ethnicity was one that is hard to match or you have specific traits you are looking for. But, for us we are going to give donor embies a try this time and maybe #3 we will have the funds to go for IVF with dh's swimmers and donated eggs!
