AZ -Human egg sales illegal in new bill
Another member posted this on another board thought some of you might be interested.
Arizona proposes bill to make it illegal for women to "choose" to become a donor but yet it is ok for men to donate their sperm? Although there are more risks invovled in egg donors there is also more compensation and shouldn't we women have the "right" to choose? Thank God I don't live in AZ! http://wildcat.arizona.edu/media/pap...at.arizona.edu

Oh boy, sorry to get political, and I'm sure this belongs on the debate board, but I just knew this was a republican sponsored bill before I even read it. And it was. Why are politicians ALWAYS trying to interfere with women's rights? I swear, they want to take this country backwards.
I donated eggs in 2002 because I WANTED to. It was a shared cycle, and I was happy to do it. Assuming I would make a lot of eggs since I was young, I was willing to share before I even knew of all the income perks to me. What a disgrace these politicians are to the American people.... |

While we were all busy with the Superbowl, "Sc-Alito" was confirmed. Wouldn't you know, rowe vs wade is next.
It's as simple as letting some cases that they knew wouldn't have a prayer before his confirmation be heard now in lower courts, have the decision go against the Fed's to then have it heard again against the upper court. Check out Nebraska, they're trying already, getting close to home. I'm disgusted; every year it's the same big promises. Once up there, they do what they want. The damage is made. |

This is just so unbelieveable! How dear they tell a woman what she can and cant do with her eggs! So with this bill would IVF be illegal in AZ?? OR can a woman just not receive financial compensation for her eggs??

Right - you can still donate eggs, but it will be illegal to be compensated for it.
I went to the donor agency today and the owner said she has a whole bunch of people who are going to go speak on Monday. She basically said that she would be shocked if this passes but if it does she will move her business out of state. I did write to our governor and to my senator and told them what I think of this whole legislation. On another note - I think we found a donor today!!! I am going to sleep on it tonight and make sure I really love her as much as I do now. ![]() Crystal |

As far as I know, it is illegal to buy/sell body parts/organs (fed law). The loophole most institutions have found around that is the ED is compensated for it's time and trouble not for the actual eggs, hense egg DONATION not egg "whatever" (can't think of the word)
