2/14 DE transfer

Hi -- We are trying to get pregnant with an egg donor. I am 43 and my husband is 44. We have had a bunch of failed IUIs and IVFs and basically gave up on my eggs. Our donor is 25. 49 (!) eggs were retrieved - 29 were mature, and 26 fertilized. A number of the embryos were excellent quality so we only transferred one. We were able to freeze 16. I am going back and forth on whether we should have transferred two but we do not want twins! Also, my pregnancy test is on March 1 and I am tempted to do a hpt before then. Has anyone had any experience with this? Please let me know if anyone out there has had any similar experiences, issues, etc.

Thanks!!

Wow! 49 eggs!! That's awesome! Good luck w/ your beta. We had 36 eggs retrieved w/ our donor cycle - we transferred two and froze 10. I didn't hpt w/ my donor cycle (which resulted in ds), but I hpt'd obsessively with other cycles and got a + 9dp3dt (which in the scheme of things is meaningless b/c those pgs did not work out). Good luck! It sounds like you're well on your way to a BFP!!

Thanks! I am glad to hear that things worked out for you with your DE cycle. How does the FET work? Do they usually try to thaw only the number of eggs that they will transfer? I am trying to be postive about this cycle but I also want to understand the alternatives if things don't work out. I hope that things work out with your FET!!

pg ment.

That's awesome!! Congrats on your donor! I think that you did the right thing only trasnferring one if you didn't want twins. I wouldn't second guess that. Let me tell you a little about my hpt experience. I did not actually hpt before my beta. I'm glad I didn't because I think I would have freaked out. My first beta at 12dp6dt was 2,300. After I got the first positive I went out and bought a hpt because I wanted to see it turn positive Well after I took it there was only a faint line and I a HUGE beta. If I had seen that before the test I would have been scared. My advice is to wait for the beta results just to avoid any undue stress. Best of luck!

Little Miracle -- I had cramps for a few days, but nothing yet! I am going in tomorrow for my pregnancy test - all HPTs have come back positive so I am hoping for good news. Good luck next month! Are you doing a donor egg cycle?
