little miracle- Are you asking about the menses when you first start BCP's or after you stop taking BCP's?
I don't think it really matters if your donor didn't start her menses close to yours. My last menses was on 12/19 and my donors was around the same time but my RE still wanted her to have a period in January. He said it didn't matter if I was on BCP's for too long as long as my donor wasn't. My donor and I started Lupron on 1/31 and our last BCP was yesterday 2/3. I started BCP's on 12/21 and I was on them for a total of 45 days. On our calenders it says that we both may or may not get a period on Feb 7, 8, or 9th. I hope this info helped.

There are a number of ways to synchronize ED and recipient. I believe the most common involves placing both the ED and recipient on a medication called Lupron. Lupron suppresses the pituitary gland and prevents stimulation of the ovaries. What it does is turn the ovaries "off" temporarily. It allows the egg donor and the recipient to be at the same starting point in preparation for further medication.
You really should talk to your RE about this; I wouldn't let a doc near me unless they have explained it all and I have understood it all. It's my body and I want to know the risks. |

Sasha72,
Thanks for your detail answer, looks that you are closer to your transfer, all the best! I am currently also getting ready for my ED transfer too for the end of this month or beginning of next month. The reason I ask the question is because I started BCP's on day 9 after my period and all this time that I have been with the BCP's for 19 days (until yesterday), I had pain on my ovaries all these days, to the point that today I couldn't resist any more and I called this morning my clinic and told them that I had to stop the BCP's, I was under a lot of pain last night and I couldn't sleep at all. Any way, one of the nurses which is very nice told me was o.k. to stop the pills and called them back with my period. Now, I am concern to jeopardize my protocol, I hope not, the nurse didn't mention anything. In the mean time my donor will stop her Birth control pills until Jan 10th and may be at that point I will be on day 1 of my next period. I am just worry mx22006, You are so right with your comments, some time I feel unconfortable asking so many questions to my clinic and the nurses, but you are right it's my body (and my $), reason why I decided to call today, the reality is that I was thinking to wait for more days, but that pain was so uncomfortable. BY the way, I saw in your profile taht you are waiting to be match, I wish you the best in you search, please keeop us posted

Never ever feel that you are asking too many questions or that they may be too simple.
Personally I think that doctors are providing a service and if they are too arrogant to answer my questions, for which I am paying dearly emotionally and dollars-wise, then I take my business elsewhere; there are more of them where she or he came from -- this service is not just any service, it is one that deals with my body; I want to know absolutely everything. For example, I sat 2 hours firing questions at a doc until his eyes glazed over; now, I'm as informed as I can be at my stage and I know what kind of person he is (of course, I warned him how long it would take ahead of time.) Just because they have advanced degrees doesn't make them gods. Do not let them intimidate you. |
