Blocked tubes/use my own eggs???

I'm over 40 and I can't afford an egg donor. My doctor said both tubes are blocked. One is worse than the other. I've never been pregnant. Why can't a doctor just extract some of my own eggs, join one with my husband's sperm, inject it inside my uterus and let me go home? Why do they have to wash them first? And all that other stuff? No matter how many times I read about all the different procedures I still feel like it could be much more simpler.
I need some encouragement.

If your eggs are good, there is no reason it can't be done just as you suggested. Well, it's a bit more involved than that, but there is no reason you have to use donor eggs.
