Update on Twins - still a bit uneasy

Hello,

Just wanted to update everyone. It's been a while since I've been on line.

I've have 3 ultrasounds and there are 2 sacs with heartbeats. I'm getting adjusted to the fact that we will most likely have twins. I'm still a little scared about the prospect of handling 2 infants, and the twin pregnancy itself. DH is very happy and excited.

Also wondering what the babies will be like since we used de/ds. We have a daughter conceived using de/dhsperm. Having lots of doubting if we did the "right" thing, or should we have just been happy with our dd? Are we playing with nature.

Any of you have any of these thoughts?

The only playing with nature you are doing is to help it create those two beautiful babies!

I can understand your concerns about having twins. It would be a bit overwhelming to me too. But I am sure you will do great - you dealt with and ovecame IF - didn't you?? I think that is much harder!

We are using DS and I wonder what the child will be like too.

I'm sorry you are having doubts about your little precious miracles but I think that the fact that the cycle worked is your answer! It was meant to be...something inside of you steered you in this direction and your twins were created.

I also used de/ds and at the beginning had a lot of fears about what she would look like...but now I don't even care. I just want her to be healthy and happy. I'm sure I will have many worries throughout her lifetime but right now I am just so full of anticipation.

Best of wishes to you..I know you were worried about having twins even before you transferred. BUt I'm sure everything will be fine..I'm a little jealous that my two embies didn't stick.

Gaylemae- Your fears are absolutely normal! If I don't have doubts on any given day, it just wouldn't feel like a normal day. Remember how you feel about DD now and hold on to that unconditional love feeling and trust that it will be there when these 2 precious babies are looking up at you....it will be ok! You are not alone! Hang in there! BTW-CONGRATS!!!!!!! you should only be doing the happy dance!

I was JUST thinking about you & was beginning the hunt to see if I could find anything on you!!!

I know that the idea of a multiple pregnancy can be scary, but just be sure to follow orders from your OB & listen to your body. With good care by both yourself & your OB, you'll do just fine. As for handling 2 newborns, you'll do just fine. If people offer to help, accept it & don't worry about the housework & other things during those first few months!!

Congratulations!! When is your due date so I can update you on the chart?!

I know having twins can be scary. You will do fine; don't worry! I used DE with DH's sperm and am expecting a singleton. I sometimes have my misgivings whether I have done the right thing using DE but that is normal. I really wanted to do this, and I wanted to give my bio DD a sibling. This was the way to do it for us. So, I know we did the right thing. I do hope that once the baby is born that my misgivings will be distant memories.

Please keep us posted on how things are going for you.

Gaylemae- You will do just fine! What was your first beta? I just found out today that mine was 144 at 10dp3dt. We are thinking that there may be two?? Kind of nervous about it too!
Hugs,
Cathy

We used de and and my dh's sperm. I was getting all caught up in what my twins would look like, etc. I did a lot of research and here are my findings. When you have your babies, people will contantly be commenting on how you look alike. It's as if people see what they want. However, there is scientific proof here as well that should make you very happy! Apparently, even if you use de/ds or both, your genetics play a part since you are carrying them in your womb. Your genes actually do influence hair, eyes, etc. to a certain extent. If would be different if you were using a surrogate, of course. Either way, you will be just wishing they are healthy as you proceed. Good luck!
