Donor Sperm Questions

Hello,

DH and I have decided to use donor sperm. DH has severe male factor and past IUI attempts with his sperm has failed. We are both excited to begin this new treatment option. The donor we chose looks identical to DH and many of his personality traits are the same.

My RE wants me to take clomid again for this cycle using donor. He will also be using IUI. Do you think that the use of clomid will really help or more likely hinder my chances of conceiving? I have been tested and have no problems. I am just wondering why he would continue to have me on the fertility meds?

Also, I am 27years old. I have no medical problems to decrease my chance of pregnancy. What are the chances of success with DS. Any success stories?

It just makes sure you ovulate and improves timing, especially since most RE only do one IUI. Worked for me. I also had the hcg shot for timing, then one iui 35 hours later. The sperm costs about 250 per month, plus the iui is about 300 per month.... so the quicker it works the better. good luck.

I took clomid with ds #1.I got pg on first cycle
I took nothing with ds#2. I got pg on the second cycle
I took femera(like clomid, but less side effects, they say) with hcg and u/s ttc#3
I am due 3/20/06
My three all have the same donor.
to answer your guestion. Yes it does work.....I have friend she has 4 children..all with the same donor!
Diui does work...so try to stay positive...it can seem like it couldnt possibly work when you read all these post here...but It can and does work!

You know, you don't HAVE to take the Clomid. Some women feel like crap when they take Clomid. You can opt to try it one cycle and see how you feel, or TTC with donor sperm for a few mos. before going to Clomid.

I used clomid, and it didn't bother me one bit. (I was already a basket case before that anyway, LOL!) Seriously, I personally had no side effects, and got pregnant the 2nd mo. I used it.

I got pregnant using clomid/hcg and Donor sperm. I needed the clomid and hcg however because I was not ovulating on my own. I didn't have any problems with clomid. My opinion with the clomid is that when going through the process of diui, using the clomid will increase your chances because it is possible you will have more then one follicle develpe. I had 4-5 mature follicles and am 27 weeks with a singleton (I started with 2 sacs). Good luck!
