ER/ET Update

Hi all: Well-things are progressing a few days ahead of schedule. Our donor is responding really well. Her E2 is 1792 and she has 14 follicles (does that mean eggs too?) 1 is mature and the others are right behind...SO...ER is Monday 9/12!!!!! Our ET will be Saturday 9/17 (on my Mom's b-day ).

As for me-I need some translation. My cycle nurse coordinator acts as if I've been through this before. How many eggs can we get from 14 follies?? Could there be more follies at ER? My E2 went from 224 to 163 so they upped my estrace to 12mg/day. Where should E2 levels be. Maybe ignorance is bliss, because they really act as if everything is going well.....let me know your thoughts....

I'm a nervous wreck!!!

Deeja.....

I wish I had some solid advice for you, but I don't. I am guessing that if there are 14 follicles, there should be around that same number of eggs, give or take a few either way.

Don't worry about ignorance is bliss....sometimes the less we know and understand the better off we are. I don't know about your RE, but my RE always says, "I will let you know when it is time to worry, until then, leave the logistics to me" so I do for the most part, nothing I can change about it anyway, that is why he is making the "big bucks" right????

I have no clue what your e2 should be, but if everything is "ahead of schedule" and "the clinic is acting that everything is fine" I say GO WITH IT, I am sure if there is a need to be cautious or something isn't right, they would tell you.

It's normal to be nervous...your almost there. Good Luck and keep us posted.

Deeja,

14 follies does not mean 14 eggs. My donor had 25 follies and they only retreived 9 eggs. However, some end up with more than the follie count due to not seeing them all on u/s. You just never know how it will turn out.

My RE wanted my E2 to be in the 500 range...yours maybe different.
I know it is so nerve wrecking! I hope all goes well...try to relax. At this point there is really nothing you can do..just follow your doctors orders and pray.

Keep us posted! Good luck!

WOW Deeja I'm so excited for you. You're just 1 week from transfer!!!! YEAH!!!! As 50/50 said - you really won't know until after the retrieval process is completed how many eggs you'll get I know it stinks, but you just have to hang in there.

As for your e2, I had VERY screwy e2 levels and they had me on 12mg/day too and I still wasn't going up (I was like 142). Then they started having me doing 2 of the 6 pills vaginally (1 in the am and 1 in the pm inserted up next to my cervix) and WAMMO my e2 levels sky-rocketed!!!! In just 2 days of taking the 2 pills vaginally (along with the 4 oral) my e2 went from 142 to into the 700's!!!! AND my lining increased by 3+ mm. I'd give them a call tomorrow and just ask if you could try doing 2 of your daily dose vaginally! I was told my clinic's magic number was 300, but I know another ED recipient that's pregnant with twins whose e2 was only in the 200's at transfer.

Good luck and keep us posted on Monday!

Ellen-My RE said the E2 goal is 200 or above...I go in next Tues for an u/s and E2 blood draw so we'll see. I start PIO tomorrow-THAT is what I'm dreading most!

ED Update: As of this morning E2 is 4800 and she has 29 follies >15 so she is looking really good....DH has to report to the hospital at 8:00 am on Monday Yahooooo!

I just can't imagine the 2ww...can I bug you all for support??? Thanks in advance!

I was told that our donor had 14 follicles I think but they retrieved 42 eggs!! They couldn't see all of the follicles. This is probably not a typical scenerio but you only need a few good quality eggs to do the trick. Our twin girls are 2.5 yo. I wish you luck and I'll watch for your updates.

deeja,
That's great news!!! It's possible that you could end up with as many eggs as she has follies, or you could end up with less because there could be 29 follies, but only 12 mature eggs, KWIM?

The good news is that things are going in the right direction & it seems very promising that you'll get some awesome eggs to work with & hopefully some of them will survive to be frozen!!

I can't wait to hear the retrieval update!!!!

Karen
