Donor Testing

Can anyone tell me about the "Day 3 blood test for estradiol and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH)" what the test consist of and what day three is? Is day 3 the third day of your cycle?

hello,

Day three is the third day of your cycle. Day 3 is the third day after your period starts. They check these levels to use as a baseline. (What your numbers normally are on any given day.) When you ovulate, these numbers change drastically. This is how they determine the right time to inseminate you, if that is what you are having done.

I just noticed your thread is titled, "donor testing". If you are planning to be a donor then they would probably use these numbers to figure out when your eggs will be ready to extract. I am just guessing. hope this helps

rmeredith-Hi! I read your post and I am assuming you are a donor? If so, your IP's may want to know your estradiol and FSH on day3 to make sure your ovarian reserve is not diminished and that your FSH and E2 are in the "normal" range. This can be an indicator of your response to stims, et al. If YOU are looking into using a donor due to other issues other than diminshed ovarian reserve, than I'm sure your RE wants to take these levels as a baseline. hope that helps-deeja
