We Chose our DE Today......

Well....the decison has been made....i can't believe that it did not take us a long time to decide, we took longer today to decide what to do for dinner than about the future of our child (ren).....STRANGE!!!!

DH and I chose our DE today. It was very intersting to see what attracted us and what turned us away.....and the feelings were almost immediate. After about a hour of looking that all 7 profiles....we made our choice. We went with what felt right to us, and for DH and I, it happened at the same time. We both agreed instantly when we discussed it. We knew we wanted a couple that both had light eyes (as we do) and the rest just kind of fell into place. There were several genetic factors about our own backgrounds that we knew we would like to delete if we could, and somehow we managed to do that. Of course we traded for other possible issues, however, through this process, we have learned, no one has a perfect background and health history, and that some things are less important than others are. We feel very good about our choice and haven't thought about any other profile since.

I will say that DH and I got a WARM AND FUZZY feeling when we read "why" the donor egg patient was going through this procedure, it felt like this was the perfect match for us.

What we do know and glad to share is the fact that there are 7 embryos that are all 5 day blasts, both parties had blue eyes, blonde hair, fair to medium skin color, the only thing that was way off in charesticts was the height of one of them, but we figured a child would be glad to have some height on their side (we are both under 5'4") Both of them are quite INTELLIGENT and family, education and the willingness to help others was important to them. Nothing in their background or medical history was earthshattering, infact, out of all of the profiles we looked at, this pick was CLEAN compared to some choices.

I will call the RE's office on Monday letting them know we made our choice, we are very excited to be yet another step closer to becoming parents.

If anyone has any questions, I will be glad to answer them, however if it's too detailed, I prefer to do it privately, as to not explose any info about the DE we chose, it's amazing how so much info can be transferred on just a few sheets of paper. WOW......we are excited.

Congratulations Blsed4life!!

Dh and I have also picked our DS and were are booked in for our appt on the 27/9, so if AF comes this week I may be able to be inseminated in Sept, otherwise we will go in October. We could be buddies!!!

DH and I also had the same instantaneous "gut" reactions to our 1st and 2nd preference donor and I think in a situation like this gut feel is the best indicator for whats right for you and your hubby.

Once again, Congrats and good luck

Ladies....thanks so much for the support and the well wishes. I hope that the rest of this process goes as smooth as it has so far. One part of me feels like "ok, when is the other shoe going to drop" things this complicated don't generally go this smooth, but we are thinking positively and we are taking one day at a time. I will keep you posted. I have my protocal appointment (never had one of those before) on August 31, so i am very excited to go to that, in 6 weeks I hope that we will be in our two week wait and soon know if our miracle we have waited so long for will be on it's way. When I called the RN today, she said we made an excellent choice, the Original Cycle resulted in 10 five day blasts, 3 were put back and produced twins, she felt very confident that we made the right choice.

Again, thanks for the support, and I will keep you posted on the progress.
