What point do you tell your child?

Hello, I am new to this. My husband & I have gone through 1 successful IVF treatment. Now we are starting a 2nd but the doctor advised us to look for a sperm donor as a back up. We are very torn on our decision. I don't want my child to grow up alone & not have a sibling. But our main concern is how do you tell your child? when do you? I think they have a right to know & eventually they will find out? what kind of resentment will there might be? please if anyone out there has gone through this, please shed some light for me. thank you

Those are great questions.

I know there are a lot of past posts about how to be open with kids about being donor-conceived. There are books on the topic to read to kids, too.

Feel free to email me directly if you like. I know a LOT about how different families share this information with their kids, and at what ages. The way you share (and what you explain) obviously is different depending upon the age of the child.

Thanks for coming with these questions, which many of us have had to figure out, too. You are not alone.

Just wanted to bump this back to the top, since I split it off into your own thread from the Tell/Not tell thread! I think you'll get more answers this way!
