How long it takes to match you up with a donor depends on what you're looking for in your donor, as well as how many donors are available. With our previous clinic, we were told that the waiting list to be able to start looking at profiles was 1 year, but we were at the top of the list & looking at profiles 6 months later. With our current clinic, they have their own donor pool & you can look at profiles the day you have your consult & if you see one you like, you can get started right away, provided that she's not currently cycling, but they would tell you who isn't available.
If you're really picky, then it might take you a little longer to find the perfect donor. If you're not very picky, you could find one in a matter of days or weeks. Good luck! Karen

Thanks a lot for your answer, I may be picky because we will try to match blood type and physical caracteristics with me, I am thinking not to tell the child. Could you be so kind to give me the website of your clinic, I like the idea they have their own pool, so I can save time. |

Hi -
The length of time to match depends on many, many factors. If you go through an agency, you might find a match today. If you go through a clinic, it could take several months depending on how large their pool is, and what characteristics you desire. If your blood type is common, such as A+ or O+, it will be faster than if you have a less common type such as AB or B. In general, it seems that using an agency is faster, but using a clinic's donor pool is less expensive. Here are some agencies that were posted on another BB. Thanks a lot for the agencies information , you gave me a lot of homework for this weekend!!! you mentioned about a difference in prices between clinics and agencies, do you have an idea of the savings between one option and the other? Can a clinic work with the agency, or how does it works? Does an agency has a clinic and a Lab? Thanks in advance |

How much you save will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the agency you choose, the donor you choose, and whether the donor must travel. You might spend an additional 5000 to 15000 (or more) by using an agency. Creating New Generations has pretty reasonable fees. Egg Donation Inc., is somewhat high, and A Perfect Match is extremely expensive. Some donors will request compensation of 5000 and others will want 20,000. Repeat donors will have higher fees than first-time donors. To minimize costs, I strongly recommend finding a donor that is local to your clinic. I learned that the hard way.
Most clinics are willing to work with agencies, although I have heard of some clinics refusing to work with certain agencies. I don't know of any agencies that have clinics or labs - that doesn't mean they don't exist - I just don't know of any. The top clinics generally have their own donor pools, and they will match you with a donor. You can approve the donor or refuse her. With CCRM, the advantage of accepting a donor from their pool is that she has already been approved by the clinic. At CCRM, you don't get any pictures, but you do get a bio. You don't have to choose from their pool; CCRM allows you to select an agency donor, but the donor must pass their medical screening. We selected a donor from an agency and unfortunately she did not pass. ![]() As for other clinics, I think Portland allows you to see pictures. Some of the ladies here will be able to offer more information about PCRM than I can. Best Wishes, Stefani |
