I made some calls and one agency you did not list is the Center for EGG Options (CEO). I was actually able to make an appt with them for July7th to go over my application and look at donor information and pictures. There is no cost until a donor is selected. They are in Northbrook. Call 847-656-8733.
Also called ARR and left a message and called ConceiveAbilities and they are sending me a packet in the mail. It costs $500 to submit an application to Conceive Abilities.

ARR just called me back and are sending me a packet of information also. No cost to have application and initial consult either.

I'm glad to see this thread. My DH and I have been considering DE. I am also from Illinois, and we have started looking into the different agencies and are trying to figure out what the difference is between them. We've heard from our RE's office that some do more screening before the donor becomes available to choose and others do the screening after the donor is chosen. If you are not choosing a proven donor, does anyone know what the difference is in the screening between ARR, Conceivabilities and CEO?

Conceiveabilities screens its donors before they are available to be chosen. I don't know about the others.

Thanks for the input Hilde. I've been lurking on this site for a while now, and I've been constantly thinking about you and everyone else who is going through DE cycles and hoping it works for everyone. Good luck with your FET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We went to CEO first and thought they were great. We filled out a form in the office and they had already picked out 10 profiles for us to see and we got to look at them right there. We also got to take home the ones that we preferred. While we were studying them, I went to ARR and Conceivabilities. I asked THEM what the differences were. CEO is very open with their profiles but they have done NO SCREENING on these candidates. When you look at profiles from ARR and Conceivabilities, they have already been psychologically screened and medically screened. They do need an initial consult and bloodwork before starting, but are basically ready to go. The CEO candidates could get rejected for their psych tests after you've chosen them and then you have to start over.

We actually liked the people at CEO but thought that it would be better to only consider donors who were already accepted by the agency.

Thanks for the tip about CEO Kara

I called CEO today. I like the fact there is no fee to go in and talk to them, and the person I spoke with seemed more willing to answer my questions than other places. I didn't realize CEO doesn't prescreen their donors though. I suppose if we choose a proven donor it's a moot point, since they at least will have been screened previously. There is a waiting list for proven donors, but not unproven donors FYI.

My RE's office has a donor pool we could use. The people haven't been tested psychologically and we are looking into whether we could have the MMPI testing done by a psychologist, as well as a separate visit with another psychologist to make sure this is really something the donor wants to do and has thought through all the issues. We would be willing pay more $$ of course to compensate for her time and trouble, etc. Overall this option would be less money since there would not be a fee for the donor agency. Opinions, please?? As far as I can tell this would cover all bases we care about, but maybe there is some issue I haven't considered. I should add I haven't heard back yet from my RE's office to see if they are comfortable with talking to donors about taking the MMPI.

Thank you, everyone, for all the information. I am sooo glad I found this site. . .

what is MMPI?

I hope to actually use a freind as my egg donor. She is just starting all the screening/testing now to find out if she can. I sure hope so! Donor agency is our second alternative.

Kara,
I pasted in a description below:

Definition

The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI-2; MMPI-A) is a written psychological assessment, or test, used to diagnose mental disorders.

Purpose

The MMPI is used to screen for personality and psychosocial disorders in adults and adolescents. It is also frequently administered as part of a neuropsychological test battery to evaluate cognitive functioning.

Hope this helps.
