Follicle question???
Hi,
I went in for my cd10 u/s today. We had increased the clomid to 100mg cd3-7 and added a shot of 150 ui of repronex on day 9. I really expected to have more follies than the last cycle (which was 2). I ended up with a 19 and 14.5 on one side and 11 and 9 on the other . It was more, but it looks to me like only one good one for IUI. I asked about waiting another day to trigger, and the nurse said no, that she did not want to risk losing the 19. The u/s was at 10 this morning. I will be triggering tonight at 10:30 and then going in on Wednesday at 11:00. Do you think the 14.5 will grow enough by release to make it two good follies or do you think I am just stuck with one ? Thanks, Sherry

Hi Sherry,
I was hoping someone would post for you. I don't know what to think about your follie sizes...but I'm sure your nurse knows what she is doing. How did your insem go? Will you be doing another one tomorrow? Best of luck to you in your 2ww. 50/50 |

I think they grow 2 mm a day? so even if you stopped meds and haven't had HCG yet the follicles can continue to grow. I think your follicles will grow a minimal amount since you are triggering tonight. I know most Drs consider 18 mm's a mature follicle likely to contain an egg but I'm sure that smaller ones can contain eggs. I do know when I did IVF that they retrieved some immature eggs with no polar bodies then when they checked the petri dish the next day those immature eggs had developed polar bodies overnight!!! (a sign of a mature egg that can be fertilized)
Good luck! Remember it only takes 1. And sperm lives 24-48 hours in the body! |

Thanks so much for your replies. I went today for insem. The follicles were still there. They were as follows 20, 16.5, 14.8 and 14.3. Since they had not ruptured, I will go back tomorrow for another u/s. I hope that we will see which ones are mature based on which ones rupture. Of course I don't know this--just guessing. Donor sperm counts were very low also--think I may have to change to a different donor. This is the second month they were low. Still hoping and praying.
Thanks again, Sherry |

BC Mav,
Sorry, I miss spoke myself. I had the IUI today, even though the follicles had not ruptured. The u/s tomorrow is just to confirm. I hope . Or I guess possibly to call it a failure. I have had quite a bit of ovary pain most of the day, so I am hoping they are just rupturing one by one and they will all be gone tomorrow. Thanks so much for replying. It is so nice to have the support of this board. Sherry |
