Donor's retrieval today

I called the IVF nurse a little while ago and learned that they were only able to get 8 eggs from our donor this morning. I'm a little disappointed, as I had been told they were thinking to get 10-12, but I'm trying to remain hopeful that 8 is enough. I was really wanting to have some frozen in case fresh doesn't work. ...

I know, I know: it only takes one (and, in fact, I have a friend with a 6 month old now who was the result of DE with only one embie to transfer), but still I'm nervous. Oh well, time will tell...

Hilde

I understand your disappointment, Hilde. But you just might get some great embryos out of it though and end up with the same number that someone else with a lot of eggs would have.

Try to stay positive and let us know what you hear tomorrow!

Good Luck!

Hilde - I can totally understand your disappointment. After spending all the time, effort and money we would hope to get as many eggs as possible. As the other ladies here say, it only takes one good egg. I am hoping that you won't need any to freeze and that you will get PG on the fresh cycle.

Looking forward to seeing your fertilization report.

** pg/kids ment **

Hilde,
I know how disappointing it is to not get as many as you thought you'd get, but hang in there!! With my last 2 cycles, using the same anonymous donor, we got 6 & 5 eggs respectively & if you look at my signature you'll see how my cycles turned out!!

Wishing you & your little ones the very best of luck!! Keep growing & dividing sweet little ones!!

Karen
