50/50, thanks for asking!! I haven't been on the boards lately because I have been extremely busy with the appointments and work.

Anyways, they retrieved 22 eggs from the donor and 18 were fertilized!!!!!! We just heard the news yesterday. Tomorrow we will hear if they will do the transfer (3 day) or go to Tuesday, the fifth day.

We're excited, but after our diappointments, we are cautiously so. The psychologist we were required to see to use a donor told us that most of the couples hardly believe they will get pg, and when they do, they are totally surprised.

So....tomorrow I hear how the embies are doing!!

Loraflo, I can't believe that you have 18 embies!!!! Keep us posted on your transfer, remember you're the one who kind of got into the position I'm in now and I'm beginning to think it was the right choice. Thank you and good luck.

WOW! That is a lot of embies! I'm soooooo happy for you. I can hear the excitement in your post! I hope you are right and age does help...cuz my donor is 23.

Do you know how many they will transfer? Let us know how it goes! I will be thinking of you and your little embies!

Congrats on such a successful retrieval and fertilization! 18 is awesome!!! Looking forward to your next update whether it'll be a 3 or 5 day transfer.

I'm just as curious as 50/50 is about how many your RE will transfer. My RE has also said 2 .. but he's also known for doing what the patient really wants because they're paying for it.

Good luck.

Ellen

Well, not so great news this morning. We're doing the transfer today (at three days) because the RE wanted to make sure we had two good ones (1-2 ratings) to transfer and the rest were still only at intermediate. Has this happened to anyone out there? Maybe people are right and it's quality not quantity. We had so many fertilize that I was so hopeful for the 5-day transfer.

Well, anyway, we do the transfer at 12:30 my time (west coast), so we are trying to stay as positive as possible. We definintely can use all your good thoughts!

Loraflo, I've read that the only reason for a 5 day transfer is to eliminate multiples (triplets). Even my RE office states this in their brochure. Also, many ladies will tell you that there is no difference between a 3dt and 5dt when it comes to success. So, relax you do have eggs from a young lady, and they will do the job. I'm not sure about the quantity versus quality because I've seen different results. Your numbers aren't that much different than mine (17 eggs retrieved, 14 fertilized), and mine looks good, but waiting for beta tomorrow. Good luck and please take care of those embies.

Loraflo -

Your donor and mine did about the same. They retrieved 40, but 25 were mature. Out of the 25, 19 fertilized and 11 made it to day 5.

Let us know how your transfer went today. Hopefully all will be well. I, too, have a young donor, 22, and I hope that will work for us. Keep us posted!

SammysMom - Good luck on your beta tomorrow. I go in for mine too. I hope we both have positive results.

Hang in there its great that you have such good embies. We transfered a grade 2 I think in a fresh transfer and BFN then froze 4 and got a better embie after the thaw which we transfered 2 and got a BFP.

WIth as many embies as you have youll have enough for #2 when the time comes!

COngrats on a great retreival and fert. report.
