KarenS-MI...question for you

Karen-I was reading a whole bunch of old posts and I know you saw Dr. Fakih in Rochester Hills. Did they have an "in-house" donor pool to choose from or did you go to an agency?

Whatever route you took, did you and your DH see a picture or meet your donor or was it anonymous? My RE (Mersol-Barg) has in-house donors but only 2--and they are spoken for until June. I feel like I would want a donor that just wants to donate once, or is that uncommon?

My sister (36 yrs. old) is still a possibility. My RE wants to meet her and discuss as well as a CCT....I'm trying to explore all options and stop my head from spinning. Thx.

Hi deeja,
Yes, Dr. Fakih has his own donor pool. There are quite a few gals to choose from & if you like someone that you see in the profiles, you'd be able to start right away, unless she's currently cycling. We were able to see a picture of our donor, but it was an anonymous donation.

His office moves really fast too. When we first chose our donor, we told them to go ahead & get her started & my transfer was done literally 3 weeks later!! They don't mess around!! My last cycle was done in about 4-5 weeks.

It really depends on the donor herself as to how often she wants to donate. There is a limit as to how often clinics will allow a donor to donate, but some do it once & don't want to do it again, while others want to help someone out again. The first donor we used (with a different clinic) only donated one time (and it was for us) & she didn't want to donate again. (I still believe that the clinic ran her off)

Good luck!! If I can be of any help, please, let me know!!

Karen
