Has Anyone used "older" sister for DE
My sister is 36 and I am 33 yrs old w/POF...told that we would have to TTC #2 using DE...my sister said that she would possibly donate (we are just in the beginning talks) but she is 36 yrs. old. She has had 2 children, #1 by IVF (husband has sperm antibody) and #2 naturally 2 years ago. I find comfort in her being our donor and I know the chances will be decreased due to her age, so hoping someone can share a success story! I don't consider 36 THAT old...anyone, success? THX Deeja

I feel like I was reading a post from my sister. At 33 she went through IVF using my 36 yr. old sister as an ED. The 1st try was unsuccessfull. A few months later they tried again and she had a healthy beautiful little boy. She wants to try again, but my older sister is now 40, and they(the program) won't consider her this time around because of her age.
So just wanted to let you know 36 is not that 'old'. But the closer you get to 40, the more chance is that they won't want to use them. Best of luck to you in your venture!!

I am 24weeks pregnant having had DE IVF using an anonymous donor. I considered having a family member donate but after much deliberation, I decided that I wanted an anonymous donor as we both felt strongly about the donor not being a part of our lives. I think this is going to be hard enough having to come to terms with looking at our baby and processing the fact that it will not have my genes. I feel completely that is is my baby. I know I would always look at my donor and my baby and wonder if they were connecteed in some strong way and felt fear that I would feel excluded and it would be painful. This is just my tuppence worth and I know everyone is diffferent.
I wish you lots of luck in whatever you decide.

Hi Deeja.........
I think it is great that your sister is willing to help you out. As I was telling CherylLI the other day, it really takes a special person to be able to want to do such a thing. To give of ones self in such a non-selfish and giving way is truly exemplary.
I went with an anonymous donor as I do not have a sister. I wish I had a sister! In any event, if you are in the beginning talks, please speed up the process of the talks. 36 is still not too old to get pregnant but fertility does go down after the age of 35. I was 38 going on 39 when I got pregnant with my natural pregnancy and it was my first pregnancy. I wish you the best of luck. Love, Laenae

I think its wonderful that your sister is considering donating. Talk to your clinic and go in for a consult. THey can do a baseline ultrasound and see what her resting follicles look like and youll know better what to expect. Odds are she will do well.

Thanks for the replies. My even "older"sister called tonight (she's 39) and said she wanted to know what donating would entail because she would consider donating too. She said if the clinic would allow both my sisters to donate then we could see how many viable eggs could be fertilized and we'd never know whose was whose. I am amazed by their love and generosity. I do having a very loving, accepting family and I just fear that the ages of my sisters presents a challenge, but I am comforted by the thought of success of ED by them none the less. I plan on calling my clinic to inquire about a consult.

Wow Deeja, thats great..I hope it all works out for you. When my middle sister found out about her POF, both my oldest sister and I said the same thing. But unfortunatly $$ played a big part in the ultimate decision. (My spelling is bad, I know, LOL... )
I am so glad to see you have such love in your family . I wish you success in your venture to build a family!!!
