So nervous

Well I'm off for my long dreaded HSG this morning. I have been avoiding this for awhile, but because of my failed FET in Nov. the RE is insisting. I understand its a possibility of a problem with a tube causing embies to die,but this one scares me . I have read way too many reports on the boards regarding HSG to not be scared. DH is comming along for moral support. If ALL goes well we will select a donor this month and hopefully be on our way. I can't really put a finger on exactly way this bothers me so much but it has kept me awake for the past three nights.

HSG? Histosalpingogram? I have had 3 of those!!! My RE made me get one every 6 months because he said even if you don't have a problem with your tubes they could just close up and an IUI wouldn't be worth a darn if you tubes are closed. The HSG's are not that bad... the procedure is relatively short and some cramping.... after that it is over and you can do heat patches and acetemenophin. The lap... well you are under sedation or anesthesea for that right? I had one of those also, but not the HSG and the LAP at the same time. Guess it's better to know both those procedures out at the same time and get it over. At least you will know something from BOTH of those. All of my HSG's showed my ovaries and tubes to be normal and clear. My LAP was normal too... no endo... only one little tidbit of no consequence to my infertility ~ my appendix scar was attached to my GI tract! (had my appendix out when I was 12!)

MomtoTwins.........

Good luck on your HSG. I know how you feel being nervous. I was nervous with my first one. I feared what abnormalities they would find and if the procedure itself would hurt. Unfortunately, my first HSG was at a hospital and either the equipment was obsolete, or the technician was less than skillful but it was extremely painful. I saw stars and held on to the sides of the examining table I was on. I could hardly wait until the procedure was over. In fact, I spotted a few days after the procedure itself. The results of the HSG were that I had a Uterine Septum, a blocked right tube and polyps. I had a subsequent HSG done at another location and it was a piece of cake. When completed, I could not believe it was over. The second technician was very skillful and gentle.

Good luck on your HSG and, hopefully, everything will go smoothly.

Love,
Laenae

all clear!

Well the thinking part was the worst part. The HSG was nothing!. Not even a bad cramp. My ob/gyn did it and he is really nice so maybe that helped. The good news everything looks clear and normal, no blocked tubes or abnormalties at all. Now we can go to the next step.
