protocol question
We're at the beginning of a donor egg cycle. I'm the recipient. Want info before contact with the RE's office tomorrow. My donor gets headaches on bcpills so RE has started us like this. . . We are both mid-cycle and had progesterone levels tested to see if we've ovulated. The results will be back tomorrow.
If she's ovulated, she's to start bcpills for the last half of her cycle so that she can be on them for 12 days or so. Once he decides it's time for her to start her period, she'll start the gonal-f shots. I understand that part, but am confused about my part. If I've ovulated, I'll start Lupron. Here's where I'm confused about what's next. If I've ovulated and start the lupron, will my cycle be "in control" within a couple weeks so that I am synchronized or should I be on bcpills along with her? Am I supposed to have a period too, or will the lupron keep me from having one? I know there's breakthrough bleeding around day 10 of Lupron. Is it right that I'll just take Lupron alone and be ready for the estradial patches when she starts the gonal-f? I would be on the lupron for only about 2 weeks at that point. If anyone knows the ins-and-outs of the protocol and understands what my RE is doing to synchronize us (her starting bcpills in 2nd half of her cycle and me starting lupron in 2nd half of my cylce), I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE THE INPUT. I'll be dealing with the office staff tomorrow when the results come in!! Thanks!

I'm not sure because I've never been on Lupron. I hope someone else sees this & is able to help! Hopefully you get some answers tomorrow!

I've been on Lupron for supresssion and usually BCP's before and I have NEVER had breakthrough bleeding. The Drs. can do SO MUCH to control cycles I'm sure they know what they are doing with the BCP's and the Lupron. They really don't want ANYONE to ovulate before it's time. I've take 2 weeks of BCP's and our SM has taken 2 weeks of BCP's to bring on AF sooner. Current SM had a patch then switched to BCP's and the ED took BCP's for the 1st time and the Dr. synched their cycles. It is pretty amazing how much control they have. Also our ED wasn't quite ready for ER so Dr. had SM "on hold" with the E2 patches I think. They can do ANYTHING!!!!

I think it's a good idea for you to question everything. But also, the drs really can manipulate both of you so that you're both ready at the same time. I was strung out on Lupron so that my RE could do my FET, he went out of town after I started my drugs.
I was also put on hold for my fresh transfer because my donor wasn't ready for retrieval. It all worked out. Good Luck!

Yes, at the same time question everything and ask why... the Dr. should give you a good reason! We always questioned everything. I'm sure that bugged the majority of Drs. because they took it as a question to their authority/intelligence. But we did have 2 Drs. that put us on the same playing field and weren't insulted when DH and I typed out of list of questions. They answered our questions in laymen's terms and explained why they did what they did and why they preferred this med over that, and what their experiences were with different things.
